Datejust vs Explorer
Hello fellas, i'm close to buying either one of those two pieces. First, i want to take your opinions on which one you would get, and make a poll. Regardless of what other Rolex you have in your collection, which would you choose, and why?

They're both great pieces. If you want a dress piece hands down the DJ 116234 is a stunner. If you're looking for a daily, the Explorer I 39mm would be my choice. I absolutely love my DJ and it works perfectly with my Sub-C 114060. I give my DJ equal wrist time. And if you get a DJ, with the roulette date wheel, you'll be one happy fella.

As an only watch the Explorer; I'd choose the DJ plus a SubC for a two watch collection.

Explorer without a doubt. It's the ultimate all rounder Rolex.

You can't get much better than this
I tried a Datejust and a Turn-o-graph but came back to the trusty 114270 Explorer I. This is my 3rd may I add, I've had 2 of the newer 39mm 214270's both times sold and gone back to the 36mm version.

I like both, the DJ is a bit dressier especially on a jubilee. Its probably the most popular Rolex of all time. That also means that you see it everywhere, I have yet to see an Explorer in the wild.

Explorer by a mile...no flash, nothing superfluous, just a lovely understated piece that does the job.

Hard decision, both are classics. The 14270/114270 Explorer I has always been my favorite with the 162XX Datejust Thunderbird running a close second. Although I'd probably miss the date feature, if I had to pick one it's be the Explorer I.

I like both, but the Exp over the DJ.
A bit sportier, yet can play the dress role if needed. A real go-to. |

Explorer would be my choice. Clean, simple, and symmetrical.
I'm actually about to add an Explorer myself.

A Datejust II would get my vote in a poll.

DJ or DJ II of course.........no-brainer there. The Expy just never did it for me......its honestly, one of the most nondescript watches out there...

I owned an Explorer I for three days and flipped it for my Sub C. It is the most underwhelming Rolex I've ever seen. It didn't even feel like a Rolex to me. The Datejust is a real classic and very versatile. |
