New purchase to aim for, for 2014!
Hi guys, so I bought my first 'quality' watch last month (Explorer 39mm 214270) to commemorate the start of my working career and (unfortunately) i've caught the bug and and already looking at how to build up the collection! I absolutely love my exp, it signifies so much in terms of new beginnings etc - and it is a fantastic start to a collection in my opinion!
My question to fellow TRF members is this - what should be my next addition? I plan to purchase 1 piece this year with a budget of around US$10,000 :) Previously I was looking at JLC reversos (grande taille, tribute, grande date), the Daytona white face, AP RO, JLC master controls/geographic, GO pamomatic lunar to name a few What would be a great addition? In terms of purpose of the new watch I would like this piece to be more dressy or 'wow factor' I think, more of an 'occasion' watch Thanks! HC PS: For budget, I can get around 20% discount on Rolexes and more on other brands Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

AP RO white dial would be the perfect dressier partner to your lovely black Expy. An Haute Horlogerie piece will also give you a bit of the ole wow factor too.
BTW I have a white RO and want your Exp 1! |

The Daytona would compliment your EXP nicely!

Are you getting 20% off the US MSRP? Are you purchasing from an authorized dealer?

With a budget of $10k, I'll recommend you a second Rolex, the BLNR GMTIIc and still have some money left in your pocket. Modern, versatile, and appealing ... it's got it all.

I think you need to try on some watches and narrow your list

I think I can never systematically build up a well-balanced watch collection, because my desires for particular ones are too strong.
So probably one day I'll find me looking at my totally arbitrary watch collection. Probably 10 watches and 0 dress watches, even though after every purchase I keep saying that the next one will be a dresser. |

I think you need to go to an AD and try some on. It will be a lot easier once you narrow your list.

You can't go wrong with a SubC or Daytona. I would try on several before deciding.

Sharp watch! For around ten grand you can get a pre-loved President in gold. That would be dressier, and the classic Rolex elements (fluted bezel, Cyclops) are available. That watch is on my grail list.

With a budget or 10k I would no doubt be looking for a president.

AP RO with Panda dial or SS Daytona are among my fav's. $10K may not do it on the AP however.
