Search over, winner arrives for pickup Wednesday
I have finally made my decision on my first Rolex. It's the GMT Master II, 116710LN. I've been going between this one, the no date Sub and a DJII Grey dial with black Roman numerals. I even considered a two time sub date for a minute. I've also made the decision to buy it new from my local AD. The salesperson there has truly earned my business with this watch and last month with a new wedding set as a gift to my wife for our 10 year anniversary. She has gone out of her way to incredibly helpful and not pushy. I also felt as if she gave honest feedback and advice.
Here's how I come to the conclusion: Sub - too sporty for me for wearing with a suit 5 days per week. DJII - really liked this watch with Romans and dark dial. There was just something about it that I couldn't get past. I don't know what it is, just something. TT Sub - had a blue dial. Beautiful in the case. Too bright and flashy for me. Winner - GMTII: perfect balance of sporty head with a little dressier bracelet. The green hand and writing is awesome. Green is my favorite color. It's just enough touch of a different color and the bezel I like better than the Sub. I feel I will own a Hulk Sub at some point. It arrives WEDNESDAY this week. Will post pics as soon as I pick it up. Thanks to all those who offered advice. The two losers photo: Kyle |

Great choice, and a good relationship with an AD has it's long term benefits. Hope you enjoy it.

I think the 116710LN is a great way to start your Rolex collection. If I was starting over, it's probably where I would go first as well. Good choice.

Congrats on picking the nicest new sports Rolex.
The 24 click bezel is incredible, the look and comfort are great, and the bracelet is such an improvement- in my opinion, this model does it all...

Enjoy your GMT, its an absolutely gorgeous piece of machinery. If green is your favorite color, you will most definitely own a Hulk one day. My decision was between the LVc, LV, and GMTIIc. Hulk ended up the victor. |
