Picked up TT Daytona today
Stopped by local AD today to takes trades on used Rolex if you're buying a new one. They sell the used only at one store location(no new). Anyway they had a U-serial('98) TT Daytona w/ Champagne dial. Normal wear/patina, tight bracelet, clean crystal, etc. A solid unpolished watch. No papers but they will give me box. Was serviced by their in-house tech and comes w/ a 2 year warranty. Got it for $5500. I pick it up on Monday. Sounded like a great deal. This should be the Zenith movement.? I am missing something? The cheapest I've seen for anything around this vintage is $7000. Thanks for the input.
BTW they has 5 NOS TT Turn-o-graphs including a rose gold/black face for what seemed like a good discount if anyone is interested. Chris |

That is an awesome price. Good for you. If it doesn't have any box or papers, I would still take it to an AD for authentication. Can't hurt. Enjoy your new purchase and wear it in good health.

This is a Rolex AD. They have four local store, 3 that sell new watches and one the sells the trade-ins and discounted NOS. Anything to get around the Rolex dictatorship I guess.

Yes, it's a Zenith Daytona. I spent about $7,500 on mine a year or so ago. Mine is a U-serial as well, and should look EXACTLY like yours. Here it is: Congrats on joining the Daytona Owner's Group!!!

Prince, exactly like yours. The watch has never been polished but the band is the only part that needs it. Will a Rolex service center do a band polish/refinish only without the service?

Brendan is correct, but at the price you got this beauty for, you can afford a full servicing! I'd go for it if I were you!!!

So you guys are saying you dont' trust the service done by the local AD's watchmaker!? My opinion is that most of those guys are butchers. Probably the best bet to send to RSC and have her totally service/polished by a competent watchmaker. RSC papers and service box would certainly add to the current and future value.

The full service would be the best $500 spent considering the steal you got on the watch!

A complete service will give you peace of mind and you'll know you will be good for at least 5-7 years (if not longer). It's under $500 unless there is a problem, if there is a problem it's worth the $ to know it now.
