The reason why Rolex was unable to create a blue & red bezel

"On the one hand Rolex was able to accomplish the laudable task of creating a single piece of ceramic in two colors, but on the other hand they were not able to create a bezel in blue and red. The reason isn’t Rolex’s fault though, and has more to do with the fact that as it stands, producing zirconium oxide ceramic in certain colors (red being one of them) isn’t that successful for these types of applications"

Is this true?

Yet some firms like Kyocera who make ceramic Knives in blue red green etc and seem to have a red/black ceramic peeler that cost £15, and mostly all ceramic no matter who makes it its all made from zirconium dioxide.

Not to mention Hublot released a red ceramic bezel last year.

I don't think it's true...

http://www.ablogtowatch.com/hublot-c...ly-watch-2013/

Plus, IMHO Rolex is holding off with the red-blue bezel until they figure out in which form would they release it. My tip would be it would come as exclusive to a WG GMT IIC or Pt GMT IIC.

Edit: Mike was faster

Maybe some other brands like Hublot may have patented the method.

The Pepsi GMT is so iconic I hope they don't market it only in a white gold version
( like the WG Smurf Sub )

I hope they do. It would make the classic more desirable.

Interesting! If at all I'm guessing the Coke would be offered before Pepsi, although I prefer the Pepsi

Now this is nice. I want this in SS.
Great to carry the torch, a nice throwback and an efficient application for the watch. I even think it makes the bezel numerals appear less overwhelming.
Let's see what SIHH '14 brings, the patent is over a year old. Enough to ramp up production.
Don't we also love your interpretation of red type and 24hr hand. Great photoshop dream...

This is a win-win for me if they ever do.

IF they make a plat Pepsi/Coke GMT... I will seriously consider flipping BOTH my BLNR ans Bluesy for one. Not sure about WG... Hmmm.

If they only make a SS version, then I will buy a bezel and change out the one on the BLNR every few months for effect.

The Pepsi in afraid is still far away but coke …

The blue black is created by starting with a blue ceramic bezel and adding particles to half the bezel to turn it black

This is "easy" as black is a dominant colour and to illustrate if you take blue paint and add enough black it if course goes black

Now think about Pepsi
If you tack blue , you can not turn into red or vice versa as both are prime colours, here lies the problem

However now that Rolex have made a ruby red ceramic the same process as the blue black can be done

So a coke is most likely

Imran
