I believe from what I have heard and seen, that is the new style of beze.

Though, I don't think that it is fitted to all models.

There was an article of this very subject on the forum a short while ago.

This was discussed in this thread:

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=322733

Maybe the update to the bezel is legit?

damm... so its a fake bezel or what ? he bought it on a very reputable AD. and when he called at soon as he got to his house they where freaked out and told him to go rightaway because they had never seen that before and the other 3 in stock where not like that.

..very shady....

That's cool. I prefer that style to the current one. I always thought the ceramic bezel insert looked better on the GMT than the sub because it has more markings.

I don't like it... Maybe it'll grow on me. Too busy.

To an untrained eye = GMT.

I'd love to here from some of the members who are certified divers... If this is confusing considering a tank is usually 15 minutes?

I guess this piece wouldn't really be used as a tool watch anyway.

Strange design decision for sure.

The bezel isn't used to time anything having to do with air in the tank.

And tanks aren't "usually 15 minutes".

And you're familiar with the Milsub...right?

Yes, have seen the Milsub... But thought the current 15 min markings were user experience evolution.

Also thought that the 15 minute portion on the dial was used for that average measurement countdown, that if diving you'd turn the 12 o'clock marker to the hour hand before going under. I've obviously been misinformed.

The 15 minutes have nothing to do with with the air tank, its used to time a safely stop at around 5m before returning to surface after the deeper dive. And say a 200bar air tank would give the average diver around a hour bottom time at 15m,now take the same air tank now dive down to say 45m then bottom time would be max 5 minutes before returning to safety stop, and return to surface without any decompression. Now again its possible that Rolex have started to use a new font on the newer inserts but myself not totally convinced.

Hmmm...that is interesting. Today at an AD I saw the black and the new blue sunburst TT...the black was the traditional marking (not the one pictured above).

The bezel timer is used to time safety stops of (usually) 3 to 5 minutes for recreational diving or pre-planned bottom times.

Air tank duration depends on a lot of different factors such as depth, diver's shape and technique, etc. 30 to 45 minutes is the usual average on recreational dives down to the permitted depths, but as said, this depends on many different factors.

As per the bezel, me no likey (and never saw it on a current Sub).
