Icon7 Power Point Presentation for kindergarteners

Tomorrow I have to talk about my job as a watchmaker to about 120 kindergarteners! I made this presentation to try to keep it simple but still interesting.

put a copy of the second slide in before the end question slide ,,,

tell them what our going to tell them ,,,, then tell them ,,, then tell them what you told them ,,, then ask them what you told them ,,, its an age old recipe..
and dont forget to tage something to pass round ,, old alarm clock set for the end be a nice touch too ,,, big bell one ,,,, have fun ,,,

ps i have no idea how old kindergarden kids are ,,, oh ,, my friends daughter , about three , rushes over every time i go into their house so she can listen to my clock ,,,, [ watch , cos it ticks , her folks quartz ones dont] so maybe worthy of a pass round , something that actually ticks.

5 year olds are tangible little creatures with about a 30 second attention span so I recommend you bring props like the hands, dial, and movement exposed and working together so they can relate it to your presentation (the clock idea is a good one, because its big and they can see it working). If you have one in a clear case that would be best because if you actually want to keep it in good condition it won't be after 120 sets of sticky hands touch it . When people, especially small children, use more than one sense they will remember the experience longer.

I do have a couple of pocket watches that have a clear crystal on both sides, but I'm not sure I'll have enough time to talk about all the stuff I have!!

I knew I didn't have much technical knowledge about watches, but now it appears I'm not even at kindergarten level!

Have fun with your presentation. Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.

I have to agree with this response

I think it's a great thing to do, but how you're gonna pull it off in just 10 mins I don't know

Looking forward to reading how you got on - the presentation is great!

You guys made me laugh out loud!

Thanks everyone.
I do have quite a few things to hand out and tools to touch and compare (like a household screwdriver vs. my little ones).
I made see-through baggies with a mainspring, at least 3 wheels and a bunch of various size screws and tiny springs to pass around.
I hope I can finish the presentation in 10 minutes!

120 kindergartners in one room at the same time for a lecture on watchmaking sounds daunting.

That's a good PowerPoint, though, so the visuals ought to catch their attention.

Personally, I think trying to pass anything around during the presentation would be futile, at worst, and distracting, at best.

Best of luck to you.

Or tactile?

Good luck Vanessa. I'm sure you'll sail through it.

No, tangible (although tactile does work too) as relating to the kids' wanting something to touch & feel an object to learn about it. Aside from mimicking, touching is one of the main forms of learning for youngsters, especially 5 yr olds.

Great presentation Vanessa..

I do think that it was above the Kindergarten level though.............. probably a couple of years more advanced and at the TRF level..

Sounds like they were thrilled and some may remember it for decades to come, perhaps future enthusiasts or watchmakers themselves..

I'm unfamiliar with that usage.
