A recent post asked about our propensity to name our Rolex watches.
I haven't actually named mine.
I would be willing to participate, however names often carry a connotation of gender.

I must confess, and please forgive my naievity, but I am.....
unable to determine the gender of any of the Rolex that
wiggle on my winder.

Perhaps some of the more informed and experienced forum participants could post and appropriate process to determine gender.

I have a black TT Sub. Nothing girly about that watch.

Nothing girly about an 800' battleship either, but they are referred to as "she."

Same thing here.

I for my part never refer to Rolex watches as "Rollies" or to an SD as a "Dwelly", etc. To me, a Rolex watch is an excellent mechanical object of art, but at the end of the day only a "dead item" that I would therefore also not feel natural about giving any gender.

Agree, by the way Bo I tried some subs a Yatchmaster and a SD today, and I really was taken away by the SD! better weight and build than the subs! really liked it!

After that, he always referred to Bismarck as "He"

I've not named any of my watches. Though enamoured with them, calling them something like Subby or Platty sounds kind of, well... silly. I see no need to personify my watches. If I had to choose however, I would consider them masculine. They are men's watches after all.
