They are both iconic. The Sub more so.

Typical TRF responses.
You should know better around here. Anytime anyone asked which - the answer among these chronic enablers is "both."
That said, the below quote sums up my thoughts on the matter.

This ^^ , and age. Here in HK, Rolex is everywhere, but the old fellas are DJ guys, while more people in the middle aged to younger generation wear some variation of the Sub
P.S.. From one Old Expat Beast to another, we should get together for a pint sometime!!

Let's face it to a lot on this board it would be sub no brainier but in the non-WIS world I think nothing screams Rolex more than a DJ IMHO

It's the DJ and DD with the fluted Bezel.
When you go to a sporting event sponsored by Rolex, do you see clocks with the Sub bezel on it? I don't think so. |

Quote:
The DJ is the most common Rolex watch on the street. It's almost ordinary or generic when you see someone wearing it. While the sub seems kinda special when you see it out in the wild. My dad had a TT DJ and when I was at a mall, at a Rolex display, I asked if I could try on a DJ like my dads', then a sub caught my eye and I said, what's that? The guy said it's a Submariner. I said "is it new?" The guy kinda laughed and said "it's been around since the 50's" I was so shocked lol I obviously didn't know anything about watches. I felt all Timexes were Ironman, all Casios were that basic square digital, all Rolexes were Datejusts.

If you see a Rolex sign or cloick in an airport or at a sporting event it is pretty much always a TT DY with fluted dial...

Actually, I meant a clock with a fluted bezel, but you get the idea...

^Agree^ However, my first purchase was a Sub. It was only later on that I acquired a Datejust non-fluted white roman dial on jubilee bracelet. The purchase was mainly because me and my wife could wear it. Other watches have come and gone, but these two I am not planing on parting from.

It may be the DJ, as it's made for men & women.

Datejust (and Day-Date), no question about it. All those big Rolex clocks in airports have the fluted bezel for a reason.

Datejust with its iconic fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. One of the most copied watches in history. The Submariner is also right up there and is more popular for sure.
And I would throw the Daytona in that mix as well. |

The holy trinity of Rolex is the MilSub, Paul Newman Daytona, and the COMEX Submariners. That's 2 out of 3 submariners. Sub is more iconic.

I would have to say both. If I had to choose one, I would have to say the Sub but ever so slightly. as a matter of fact, it was the DJ that developed my interest in Rolex when I was around 13 years old.
