First Rolex Dilemma

So now that Basel has come and gone I'm starting to get into purchasing mode. I was waiting for any news out of Basel before I made any decisions. I was with my fiance this evening and she suggested we go look at watches. She said she liked the BLNR and I did too, or at least I thought I did. I have to admit the two tone bezel doesn't do it for me. So that's off the list.

I was trying on the GMT LN and the SubC ND when the AD threw a curveball. She handed me the Hulk. Hold the phone! This thing was singing so loud I think the people in the other room heard it. I haven't felt that way with any other Rolex I've tried on. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't hesitate to wear the others but this one just blew me away. I like the GMT LN but I'm not a fan of those PCLs. It's not a deal-breaker as I really like the watch, but I'm in love with the Hulk. Which would also make the SubC ND redundant if I go for the Hulk. My only question is can the Hulk be as versatile as the all black GMT? I know if I get the GMT LN I'll be thinking about the Hulk but if I get the Hulk I'll be worried it's not as versatile.

Any thoughts, opinions, WRUW photos... I need some feedback from the great community here.... Is the Hulk a good first luxury watch and is it versatile?

It sounds like you know the best choice for you. Get what sings the loudest! If you don't now it will cost you more later as it won't quit singing, in fact I've found the singing just gets louder. I don't own the Hulk so I can't speak to its everyday versatility but it's a great watch none the less. Good luck and congratulations!

Where's the dilemma?

It sounds pretty clear.

Tons of threads about the amazing versatility of the LVC.

Settle down. And buy the watch. It's a total winner.

These days, people seem to wear the hulk with anything and everything . Heck, people have red, green and blue hair with large inserts in their ear lobes...etc etc. Everything goes with everything. Buy it and wear it proudly.

If your need to listen to the voice of reason, you're in the wrong place. That said, the Sub LV is certainly a striking piece, and uncommon among the Sub species, but, for me, it would be a good choice only as a third watch.

Unless you own a large collection of red shirts lol , I say the hulk is fine for everyday wear. Furthermore, it's gorgeous. Do it.

I have the Hulk as well and absolutely love it. I wear it more than my others. However, if it was to be my only watch, I probably would have opted for a black dial 116610. The green goes with most things, but when it comes to dressing up a bit I feel it can be a bit loud. That being said, there is no right or wrong and if it is the one you like the most I would absolutely go for the Hulk.

Get the Hulk... If you don't you will not stop thinking about it until you do. I see them with suits and casually out on the weekends. Sounds like that one spoke to you so why question it?

Another cool thing is you don't see them in the wild near as much as other subs.

If you don't get what sings to you, you will be full of regret every time you look at your wrist. Get what you love ... that sounds like a Hulk to me.

If your heart is telling you to go with the Hulk, don't fight it.

Get the Hulk. If you don't, you'll regret it and eventually you'll end up buying one anyway. Don't waste unnecessary time and money - get it now!

Hopefully this will help you out. Make a splash, change the rules, forget what the others will say, because it is only say. If you feel the need for the Hulk, Dammm, my man do it. Become the trend or for that matter just become. Even though I do not even own a Rolex "Yet", I say to you "If it sings, humm a melody". If it feels good go with it my friend, your encounters in life will remember you more for a green watch that doesn't match that rust colored t-shirt or polo shirt. Change the rules and make it happen.

The Hulk is a great watch! Go with your instincts and get what you seem to be the most excited about. Plus, the Hulk can be worn anytime, its a very versatile piece.

What's amazing about this whole experience is that I've been looking at Rolex for 3 months. I've even considered Omega but the price of most modern Omega's are the same as the Rolex pieces I was interested in. Anyway, at the beginning I was all about the SS Daytona but after trying it I crossed it off. Then it was the SS DJII and I crossed that off because I liked the two tone more. But, I decided to wait for the two tone, I'll get a sports model right now. Enter the all black GMT. I showed my fiance and she said she liked the BLNR and I was drawn to the hype around it. I was also considering the SubC ND as well. After slowly writing off each watch for various reasons I've fallen head over heals for the SubC LV. I'm going to have a hard time sleeping for the next couple of weeks. Thanks again gents for the advice as well as the photos

Not a bad position to be in! If you decide to go for a GMT-C LN it will be super versatile. It is a little more fancy for those special occasions, plus it has the extra function of having GMT of course.

If you do not need GMT and definitely hate PCL's the Sub is a great choice. I would not hesitate wearing a Sub-C LV with a suit or on the weekends with jeans. It just works!

That's definitely the only 2 I'm going to try on when I go in for the purchase. My heart says SubC LV but I need to be sure I can live with that decision over the GMTc LN. Oooh happy times
