Just picked up this classic beauty! 16550
I stumbled across an Explorer II R serial. It's so clean and in such excellent condition. I couldn't resist. It's been 24 hours. Running at about plus 5 seconds for the day. The service history was unknown, but I bought from an AD, warranty. Etc. Beautiful piece...any experts want to comment on whether I should have it serviced, please feel free to chime in. It seems to be running fine.

Please forgive my ignorance, but is that not a 16570?

yes I believe white dial not Creme. Pretty rare so I'm told and I use the gmt function. Travel often. Just don't want to have to part with it for a service anytime soon. AD said all he did was replace gaskets and regulate after he purchased from original owner.

Very nice. Service it if you can afford it, otherwise no need if it's running fine.

I'm curious that if it has a warranty from an AD why it would need servicing?

The AD is HL Gross Jewelers in Garden City, Long Island. Awesome collection. Top notch stuff. He gave me the warranty and stated should anything go wrong with it within 2 years, he would pay for the overhaul and full service. But it seems to be running fine three days in. He said he changed gaskets and regulated it only when he purchased it from original owner. Thanks all. I'm nervous and keep thinking it is just going to stop, but I believe it is doing well. Steady at +5 a day.
