Omega PO plus cash for DSSD or 114060

I get it. I like Rolex a lot and their watches wear extremely well and retain the value. But am I really that far off....

I have an Omega PO 8500 black on black and have considered flipping it plus cash for a Rolex, but if I do that, I am basically giving up my current watch and paying a few g's just to have another watch that is black on black and has a different name attached to it.

Just trying to figure the logic (if any) in doing that deal.

Also, I do own another PO, the original model 2500 cal orange on orange leather.

Resale value on that particular Omega isn't great. Yet, it's a really nice watch. I'd keep it unless you have a burning desire for a Sub or DSSD right this second.

Yes, Omega takes a hit and that is the price of flipping into watches that hold value better.

Since you own two Planet Ocean's, I believe you should move one of them but I would sell the 2500 instead.

First off, It's a Rolex forum, opinions will be MUCH different than if you asked this on an Omega forum. With that said, it's all about the watch for me, not the brand so much. If you love your PO, very nice by the way, keep it. If you are lusting after the SUB or DSSD, go for it, unfortunately, the PO will only be holding you back from what you really want. Good Luck!

Also, is it really an either or? If you're going to get around $3,500 (or maybe even less) for the 8500, could you just wait six months and save up that amount? I like variety.

Thanks everyone for the immediate comments and opinions. I understand from both sides, I am just torn. I don't need to do anything but have just been having this itch to change things up. Not sure, will keep you guys updated and go from there.

If the PO doesn't do anything for you anymore, there's no reason to keep it. I'm not a huge fan of the DSSD, but the 114060 is really a great watch. It's simple, beautiful and functional. What more could you ask for? If you sell your PO for one, I think you will have a hard time ever going back to Omega.

If I got rid of one of em, it would def be the 8500. The 2500 has sentimental value.

I am really digging the simplicity of the 114060. Clean, proportional, nothing to dislike.

I was in the same predicament a couple of months ago. Tried on the PO and really liked it... Until I tried on the Sub and GMT. Opted for the 114060 and don't regret a thing. Take your time on making a decision...

As a owner of both,......keep the PO classic and trade the newer PO for a Rolex. I believe having the orange PO, you already have the signature PO. This way you will own both Omega and Rolex and both live without conflict. Do it.

Between the 114060 or DSSD, depending on your available cash and wrist size. Cant go wrong with either.

Turning the bezel on the subc, the solid bracelet and glidelock clasp, and the deeply engraved platinum bezel numbers; all of these things led me to chose the subc over the 8500 and the premium was worth it to me for these quality aspects.

The SubC. As much as I loved my POXL 8500, it was to thick for my liking, and I mean cmon, its a dang Submariner!

You won't be disappointed.

I know mine is a date, but generally speaking the same thing in terms of size compared to the PO.

It's NEVER a regrettable decision...

However, this is still going to be a deal heavily weighted on the CASH side as the DSSD is twice the retail of the PO and approx 3x the value of the PO pre-owned...

Your PO is a beautiful watch. Nevertheless do what makes you happy and if that's is purchasing a ND SubC go for it. In the end you have a fine time piece with Omega or Rolex my friend.
