PAM 305 titanio - how easy to magnetise?
The Boutique emailed me to say my watch was magnetised. They have demagnetized it, and is now keeping good time. I will collect the watch tomorrow. It was running only about 12-15 secs fast per day, but was fast in all 6 positions.
The only way I think I could have magnetised the watch was by my messenger bag which has strong magnets to attach the opening flap of the bag. And the most I could have done was either to slip my hand past the magnet while assessing the contents of the bag, or to momentarily rest the watch against it. Is that all that it takes to magnetise the watch, which by the way being titanium should be less prone to magnetism? I had better stop using the bag then if so..... |

I suspect that the ADs is BS'ing you - a movement that is demagnetized will deviate much more and it wouldn't be constant.
The magnets on your bag aren't enough to demag a movement like this. Ask to speak to the head tech that serviced your watch. |

The watch was brand new and running 1-2sec slow for first week, then it picked up speed ( when it became magnetised slightly?) in the subsequent weeks to about 12-15 secs. I too thought magnetised watches ran faster from what I read of others experiences but the slow then fast behavior made magnetism sound logical to me.
No way it could be magnetised? What do I tell them? Ask for the before and after readings? |

It usually take weeks for a movement to "settle in" and before it is worth having it looked at. P.9000 is a pretty solid movement but it is not like Panerai is famous for their accuracy...
My bet is that the watch is not demagnitized, however it clearly needed to be adjusted. Best of luck, p. |

As promised, reporting back to close this case and for the benefit of those who might be interested.
Apparently the watch was magnetised because its keeping very good time indeed now. Speeding up 1 to 2 seconds during the day and dial up during the night loses about the same back, so now more than 24 hrs after I set the time yesterday its spot on. Very happy indeed....now to keep away from magnets! |

When my 305 came back from service it was magnetized. RSC sorted it out for me as a favor and confirmed the timing if the watch after demagnetizing it.
