Based upon this thread, it appears that different end pieces would be needed in order to mount the OEM leather strap from a gold Daytona onto a SS version.

Does anyone know the answer to this question for certain? I'm looking at the back of a SS Daytona, and the pins look simple enough to remove. But does the leather strap from the gold Daytona mount up without changing the end links?

I would say it can be done.

There will be quite a gap from the end of the leather strap to the case on the SS Daytona, though, since it does not have the detachable link between the lugs to cover the gap.

Thank you, Bo. If I'm understanding this correctly, it appears that a custom strap could be made--by ABP, for example--but the pin would run through the strap only where the middle link was. In other words, the strap would require an "extension tang" in order to fill the gap in the middle between the lugs, and the case itself (sort of like the photo below). Otherwise, it appears that the end links must be changed. Does that sound about right?

The leather strap Daytona case has an integrated end piece that covers the gap from the strap to the case..

Uness you machine the case to match the integrated endlinks, or have custom endlinks made, you have an unsightly gap from the strap to case.. (although no more than other watches).

The best look is the Hirsch Leonardo straps with their extra large curved strap/case mating surface

Look closely at the case with the bezel removed. A Stainless Steel Daytona does not have the milled cuts for the OEM leather strap end pieces. Bo has it right. The leather strap can be mounted but NOT the end links. There will be a gap between the case and the strap.
