Anyone have the 2014 Porsche Turbo?

To me the 2014 911's are the best looking cars I have seen in recent years.

The Turbo seems out of this world, looks and performance.

Has anyone taken one to the road yet?

I'm a geezer. I prefer the 930 and 964's. They may not BE fast, but they FEEL fast.

But it is a pretty car. I'd like to see the front. I've seen it before in a magazine, but don't recall the lights or grill.

I have been thinking about the 2014 911 Carrera S. If I could swing the Turbo right now it would be my first choice. I have driven other turbos in the pass and they are great cars.

Maybe we should go half-half on a Turbo S

Haha, isn't it a twin-turbo?

One for each of you.

I was going to get one of those next week, but my 116710BLNR sort of busted my budget.

I'll have to wait another decade, I guess.

Very desirable car, though.

Based on Porsche prices in Oz the 116710BLNR wouldn't buy you the tires.

I've got a 991 C2S, it's a great looking and driving car... We've been a Porsche family for a long, long time...

Yesterday I got a chance to drive a new turbo S at Autobahn in Chicago, at a Porsche driving event.. It's an amazing car! I've never owned a Turbo, but my F-in-L has had a few, and while he doesn't drive his car on the street like we drove yesterday, he didn't see a huge difference in how it drives (vs a 997.2TTS)... It was very fast, great brakes, and pretty well balanced...

Do you have the 7 speed manual or PDK? I'm starting to think about the options…don't know anyone who actually owns one. I'm currently in a MB SL550.

7-speed. Bought this because of the 7-speed, disappointed the new turbos are PDK only... previously my family had a 997.1TT manual, and loved it, less happy with the 997.2TTS in pdk only... I just like the feel of the manual.

Having said all that, my next one will be a PDK. Wife can't drive the manual, and she would like to use the convertible in good weather.. Now that they have actual paddles instead of the weird buttons, shifting the paddles is still fun, and when doing track driving, I much prefer pdk for lap-time. PDK in Chicago traffic is also much more practical... I really want a non-fire GT3, but the wife would likely want a convertible, so I'm guessing either a C4S or Turbo next.

Yes, I drove a 991 C2 with a manual 7 speed, then later on drove a 991 C4S with PDK. As much as I love a good manual, the PDK really seems to be the way to go in high traffic areas. I really enjoy not having to shift now, perhaps I'm getting old and lazy. I've also become accustomed to MB's DISTRONIC cruise control in stop and go traffic, and most high way cruising. I think this would be the equivalent to Porche's Adaptive Cruise Control with Porsche Active Safe. I've never been on a lap in a car, but hey, Porsche knows a thing or two about cars on tracks.

C4S or Turbo…you may was well just bite the bullet and go for Turbo S? I hear carbon ceramic brakes are cleaner for your wheels?

I'd like to snag a 993 Turbo S, but they are pretty scare. Old School, original gangsta.

I only want two Porsches - when the time comes.

1988 Carrera Club Sport 911 - Must be minty and unmolested
1994 964 RS America - Must be minty and unmolested

The only two cars, any man should ever need or want IMHO.

Amen to that. Last of the air cooled! They can be had for prices north of $100k.

I love the look of it. Performance/Luxury-wise it can not be beat by any other Porsche product. Nothing else is that fast while retaining all of the niceties.

If I could get any Porsche though, it would be the C4S for the one advantage it has over the Turbo- a manual transmission.

I don't care how good or fast the PDK is, it is just not the same thing. I know I will get skewered for that, but it is my opinion.

You won't get flamed by me for this comment. I feel the same way. I'll take the short throw, three-pedal any day.

Who knows, I may change my mind in the future. I'm not getting any younger. And of course, once you get into Turbo territory and up you no longer have a choice. But for me the 911 is my fun car. I drive it when I want to, not because I have to. So I don't find myself parked on the freeway in rush hour very often in my Porsche.

I have a couple of gold Rolexes to buy but after that, this Porsche will give the BLRO et all some stiff competition.

Compared to other manufactures, Porsche has always done a really good job in the styling department. I'm sure the 991 Turbo is an absolute monster, but it doesn't get any better than the 993 for me.

I have a 2013 991 c2. I'd love to get a turbo next, but it truly is not in my budget for the time being. Hard to exploit that amount of power on the street anyways. Better to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. Throttle wide open, I never get out of third gear. And I'm not talking about driving like a sissy. I regularly open it up, as I live upstate not in the city.

That said, I respect the air cooled 911s and would love one of those as well. But alas, the 991 is my daily driver and I'm not sure a 993 is up to that task.

It's all relative of course. Very few buy porsche for straight line speed. It's the entire package. But if you drive a turbo and then my little 350hp c2. All of a sudden the base car feels slower

When the new Mopar Hellcat engine was announced, I said who needs that kind of power? Then I heard the exhaust and said. I need that power!
