Thanks for sharing the video, its good to hear that "luxury" watches are still selling and I think they will always be selling even in the future.

This is because I think people will still continue to appreciate high end watches even in the next generation. Plus, collecting these watches becomes a hobby for many people, especially the 00.10% or so of us in the world who really love our watches and are TRF members.

I saw that video, and didn't see anything that actually proved to me that anything they said was ture. First, they talk to 1 guy about watch sales, and he also sold alot of clocks and stuff. I think gathering sales data from Wal-Mart, Target, mall stores, etc would give a much better picture. One possible explanation for that guy's low-mid level watches not selling is just that there are probably better places to buy them. For instance, I would only buy a Movado or ESQ from the Movado store or Sam's Club, because they have the best deals. And let's not forget the internet, where you can get great deals on low-mid level brand new watches.

As for themasking people the time and they only had their cell phone, how long did they stand out on the street for. They could ave spent all day looking for a half-dozen people not wearing a watch, but when they edit it together you see them all at once and it seems like noone is wearing a watch.

I've never seen a news cast on this. I can't verify what was said about low- to mid-range watches; however it possibly could be true. I think people who really are in to watches don't mind paying for quality and for the added jewelry and fashion statements they get with it at the same time too.

I shouldn't assume but I can only imagine how many TRFers would be satisfied with owning a $100 quartz just to tell time. (Zero??) I think we'd save until we have enough money to buy a Rolex or spend the $100 now in our pockets on a good dinner and rely on our cel phones for the time. It makes sense to me.

I keep reading how sales of high-end watches have kept on surpassing each of their previous year's results for a while now. Which is good news to hear for us TRF types.
