6694 With Replacement Dial & Hands
Hi All,
I'm new to the forum and had a question about my current 6694 (1983). I've had it for 9 years and have been very happy with it. When I first acquired it, there was slight water seepage through a bad back case. The movement was undamaged but there was condensation behind the crystal. I sent to RSC and they came back saying that the hands and dial was damage and it should be replaced. By appearance it looked fine but I sent ahead to have them replaced anyways. Thinking it through now, I think the crystal was replaced also (I don't have the service record handy currently). I have no intentions of selling the piece but should I have to, how much of a hit would I be taking because of the replacement dial and hands. As mentioned, its a 1983 production watch, with papers, not the original box but a small box I suspect they gave out with servicing. You're thoughts are much appreciated. TIA! |

Your watch is not overly collectible, so I don't think it would affect resale value much if at all. I do think it is a smart looking, and you should be proud to wear it

I just recently acquired a new service dial for a 6694. They probably don't get HUGE calls for them...so it was the old printing with
T SWISS MADE T markings like the dials from the late 80's, only it had luminova for luminous. This would be akin to some of the early service 1680 dials etc that had luminova plots but still tritium designation. If yours is also this type.....Really....I think this makes VERY little difference on your watch. The dial is probably identical in printing to the dial that came on your watch originally and other than the luminous material on the markers and the hands....which...is factory done not by Joe Fabitz. :-) It wouldn't make a pimple on a flies derriere difference to me...in fact I would prefer it. Fabulous watch! Just enjoy it! :-) |

Thanks for the kind words. I do think it's a great watch and wouldn't want any other watch as a first Rolex. Ok, that's not true but you get the idea!
