Milgauss Black or White?

I've been all over the map on which Rolex to get, but after months of research and pondering I've decided on the Milgauss. I love it's funky coolness, it's size and it's heft. I really like the GV (green) version, but I don't really care for the mixed hour hands (orange and white). So I have it down to the black or the white face one. 99% of the time I'm wearing jeans or shorts, so I'm curious as to which one fits a more casual lifestyle. I love them both and I don't think there's a wrong answer, but I can only get one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd go with Black. Much more unique, and it's discontinued.

Black for me out of thse two ( I have a GV). It is out of production but still available, and may hold value better. The white has never appealed to me at all. Have you seen the new Blue GV? That has different hour markers to the usual GV.

Hour markers are different? I could not notice a difference with the new blue GV.

The new blue has no orange at 3, 6 and 9 like the regular GV does.

I believe the black dial GV is the anniversary edition whereas the blue dial version is not.

Black is cool. The white with the orange hands not a big fan. How old are you? This may be a collector's item like the old Milgauss.

I'm 41. I was pretty well sold on the black, but as always on the forum somebody had a wrist shot of the white that looked amazing! The white does seem amazingly rare and might be worth more down the road, but I'm not too worried about that. Would one be any more versatile than the other? Thanks!

I like the GV the best but my second choice would be the Black dial

I had the white, if it was black, I may still have it. I didn't like the white on my wrist. But you should try them both and decide yourself.

I have a GV, but like the white (think it would be easy to read). The black is nice, but who doesn't pay the small premium for a black GV. . . I'm guessing this mentality lead to it being discontinued with probably small production numbers. Now whether this translates into future price appreciation is anyones guess.

I'm a fan of the white one. It makes it a much more casual watch.
Only drawback for me is not having a date on it.

The black was my first Rolex. But, I flipped it for the Daytona. I regretted it, so bought the GV two month later.

I went to my AD today to see them in person. I was surprised how much I liked the GV in person. Strangly I didn't love the white as much as I thought I would. The black was stunning. I really don't think there's a wrong answer, but I'd put in order black, GV, then white. Thanks for all of your feedback. Picking your fist Rolex is an amazingly difficult and fun undertaking.

I guess I'm in a minority, but when it comes to funky, the white dial Milgauss is way funkier than anything else Rolex has to offer. Much rarer, much more unique than the black dial version. Too bad you've already ruled it out

BTW, the white Milgauss is the perfect example of how odd we people are. A lot of guys complain about how predictable and boring Rolex watch designs are. It's all just new dials, updated cases, nothing groundbreaking, you know the usual complaints. And then, when Rolex pulls out a completely unpredictable, fresh, dynamic and exciting design (white Milgauss), noone seems to want it... Strange world we live in.

Excellent point! Although I rank the white face third, it's close. If my wife surprised me with a white faced Milgauss I'd be thrilled. That's what I love about the Rolex forum. You get diverse, but well thought out opinions that help you make an informed decision. Thanks!

It's pictures like this that make it hard to pick the black one. Beautiful wrist shot!

Thanks, the watch is very photogenic. I like every version of the milgauss, but the white has always sang to me the most. In reality you cannot go wrong with any milgauss.
