Two events took place in 1966...

England won the world cup

and my (new to me) 5513 was born

COME ON ENGLAND

Although - being an Englishman, having a Dutch wife and living in Belgium, has caused some issues when trying to drape my house in the Union Jack.

Good luck (unless you play England of course )

Nice ghost insert and creamy patina. Congrats on the new one

Thanks Buddy.

England are my team, so I'll ride the rollercoaster until we lose on penalties, and then support the Dutch

Lovely gilt sub, congrats.

As for England - it would be great, but, back in reality…

I wasn't very impressed by Brazil last night - give me the late 60's and 1970 team any day. or 80s/90s for that matter. Didn't sizzle with creative flair like the old days.

Hilarious that the first goal by the host nation was for the other side! And as for that so-called penalty… talk about taking a dive. But hey-ho, they'll do well anyway.

How do you live up to the legends of those eras? Agree was a pretty drab performance - hoping they get better as the pressure lifts a little. Early days....

Jeez Michael, if you keep going like this, there won't be any nice vintage pieces left over for us...

Congrats on the new acquisition, sure is a beauty!

Thanks B - pretty sure I'm going to stop there for now. Was looking for a 5513 for a while - it should have been where I started, but didn't really appreciate them until recently

Very dangerous thing to say, what about a nice Bakelite 6542, or maybe a 5508/6536-1?

Absolutely gorgeous Sub. That insert and patina is to die for. I love when the insert is faded by light and not salt or bleach because it gives the insert a metallic look. Congratulations my friend.

Interesting point So the salty water fading and sunlight fading is little more different ?

Yes. Inserts that are faded by salt water or bleach are usually more blotchy and Un even. While the sun faded ones are usually even. Of course there are exceptions.

The insert on my red has it as well. Looks almost reflective or metallic silver.

I must say that a Gilt dial really is a thing of beauty. Looks different at every angle.

Agreed Kevin, the metallic sheen to a sun faded insert is mesmerising and combined with a gilt dial is incredible.

HAGW Everyone
