Rare GMT 1675 Blue Bezel Insert FS on eBay

Hey Guys:

I found this auction over on eBay; I guess it confirms that the "elusive" all blue bezel insert for the GMT 1675 really exists...

Nice pricing too....

Wow, $9,000? Really? I could buy a Gilt dial 1675 for that price!

Can't believe someone paid that 7,500 price for an insert. Sounds like plain stupidity to me.

At least those are fragile and hard to come by in great condition. I've seen them go for $20,000+.

Probably true. Just 3 years ago Ken was talking about these inserts being worth $4k: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=178464

One of the most rare insert. Price certainly reflects that. I think they are very nice and I'd be lucky to own one but I would NEVER spend 9K on a insert.

Sometimes see all-blue GMT bezels on watches made for UAE military, with their insignia on the dial. Nickname: "blueberry."

Milsub, "blueberry" gmt and red triangle inserts are super rarer to find loose and they demand an insane price on the open market.

So, if you have the means and wherewithal to pick up a blueberry bezel and all red hand and put them on your 1675, you have... A frankenwatch of sorts. Most purists here (and I am by no means one under any circumstances) demand all original and more and more "unpolished" examples. How would you resell this investment? As a Peruvian/Italian/UAE pilot watch? Or a cobbled together look-alike?

Now understand where I'm coming from: I have put a Luminova hand set on my Tiffany 1675 and still have the original tritium one for eventual resale with the watch. I don't sneer at changing these things at all. I believe they should be enjoyed and worn. I'm just curious about what you would (ethically) do with that watch.
