Platinum Daytona AD discount

Local AD offered 20% off the rrp - what's the best discount any Platona buyers have had I know it's a great deal just need some enabling advice. The box it comes in is huge also not your normal small Rolex box, strikingly beautiful watch and beautiful weight to it it's heavy but oh so comfortable on the wrist. The dial and bezel combination is utterly breathtaking.

It's an ok discount... I've been offered better (but not good enough for me to pull the trigger yet).

The price in the USA is $75,000 and in UK £50,100 .... in Switzerland it's 71500chfs ( $80,000 at today's exch rate or £47,000 )
I think somewhere around the 50kchfs ($56k-/£33k) wouldn't be too bad a deal

I have yet to price the watch in my area, but there is a growing fire inside me to purchase one. I agree with Dr Tom, that the experience with a good AD is priceless; one just has to be smart and settle at a fair price. I have maintained a few good friends in the watch business to help guide me...along with my TRF friends of course.

The experience with a very great grey dealer is also priceless, I have 2 in France which are really great, I put them in competition when I want to buy a watch, sometimes one has a better price sometimes it's the other, but both are incredibly professional, nice and they know their watches and advise me the best watch for me according to my collection and taste, their advise not always being to buy the most expensive of the 2 or 3 which interest me.

For BNIB, anything under 60K USD would be a great deal in my opinion. If you want enabling, let me say that for the price, that is the finest watch you can buy. There are Pateks in the multi-100K range that might tempt me more, but even they would not be as versatile and durable.

I consider it the ultimate Rolex, and it is my grail. But only you know how it speaks to you and what your budget is. Maybe Dr. Tom or SteelerFan will chime in, as they own it, among many other great pieces.

Well I got 25% off for the same watch but in everose gold, not from a Rolex AD but from a company which have great prices, like they explained they do very big discounts on the expensive ones to be able to have good prices on the steel models which are more in demand. The platinum is great I don't like Daytonas except for the ones with ceramic bezels, I would say go for it.

You can try to contact Jérome from Rivierawatch I suppose he can get you a little better, here's his number, they are in France, if you are in Switzerland I don't think it should be a problem, what you do you put the watch on you to cross the border and send the box and papers in special mail, here's his number, I bought 3 from him, I highly recommend him he is very nice and very professional +33619645031. Say you call from Arnaud Tenaille, he may do you a better price, I'm sure you get at least 25%… They are in Thonon les Bains, I'm not sure but it seems to me it's not very far from where you are...

you got 25% off for NOT the same watch and NOT from a dealer is what your post should have said but thanks for the info

I was able to get one for 25% off from a gray market dealer, I chose for my grail keeper of all time to go full Rolex AD experience and got 17% off and shipped it out of state so saved another 7%, that was an acceptable deal for me, better deals can be had depending on who and where you buy it. I also wanted to be the first to take it out of the plastic coffin untouched so I paid a premium for a watch that was my ultimate grail that my kids kids will wear.

If you can get your hands on it in totally new condition from a dealer for 60K or under I would jump on it!

To me yes it is my favorite watch of all time (of Rolex), it has pretty much stopped me from wearing anything else!!

It truly is an amazing piece!!

Well that's more or less what I said, I did explain that it's not an AD and that on the expensive models they make very small margins, if he got me that discount on mine I don't think that he will make less of a discount on the platinum version, I know him well so he told me that on mine, 116515 (if I'm not mistaking on the model number) he made 500 euros, he sold it to me for 17.500, when the retail at the AD in Paris is 23.400, anyways very professional and nice grey dealer, I very highly recommend him, especially of you call on my behalf, and I'm not getting any commission, lol

This!

What's a percentage point or two at this point? It's from an AD at a great price. Pay, forget about the price, and enjoy.

30% is not unheard of for platinum models as they are usually slow movers, but I'm not sure what the climate is like in Switzerland re: discounting.

Possibly. Off the top of my head, I don't recall when the platinum DD was released, but I was offered 30%+ off twice in the past 6-12 months, at an AD. First world guilt and a very-likely-to-be infuriated wife kept me from pulling the trigger.

I don't have the guilt, but I definitely relate to the infuriated wife part. But I have a strategy in place that involves buying lots of shoes, etc.
