What type of steel does AP use?

I've done some internetting but can't find out. Do they make their own blend? 306? 904? Something else?

The kind that scratches easily when expertly finished by very talented individuals. I might buy a royal oak and just hang it on the wall lol

So based on these funny responses, I assume it is just normal SS?

Sent from a block of 904L steel

As far as I know, Rolex is the only watch that uses 904L steel. Everyone else's pretty much use surgical grade stainless steel.

I believe that I've read before that AP hasn't released this info, but having examined it in direct proximity to Rolexes for some time, the steel definitely seems to have a similar nickel content, it is very bright.

The steel used by AP for its Royal Oak cases and bracelets is known under the technical reference 316L.
