Love My Poor Man's Panda Dial Chronograph

So I've been trimming the herd lately to get my watch collection under 10 pieces and I just can't bring myself to sell off my all original ca. 1970 Wakmann Two Register Chronograph with a very cool manual winding Valjoux cal. 7733 movement. This watch has always been one of my favorites even though I have several Rolex and Omegas in the stable. The tachometer "Panda Dial" is all original and killer and the watch winds like butter and keeps extremely accurate time. I've often thought of this watch as my "poor man's Panda" Daytona even though it only has two registers. My sense is that an extremely high percentage of people would not know the difference between this chronograph and a Rolex Daytona Panda dial if they were side by side. That said...I think I'll just hold onto this little gem and forgo the ever increasing costs of owning the real deal.

Very similar...in fact, Breitling used this and other Valjoux movements for many years. Excellent durability and accuracy. Ass vintage rolex continues to spiral upwards in price I believe these other very high quality vintage Swiss watches with robust movements like Valjoux and Lemania (I.e. Omega cal. 321) are destined to appreciate very nicely in the next several years. IMHO

It's a nice watch, whatever it is and a good movement, too.

Fantastic piece for sure! I recently picked up its close relative (Breitling 815) with the Valjoux 7736 and love everything about it!

The lugs on vintage chronos have a certain charm about them. I'd readily wear anything pictured in this thread.

Great watch Franks, hold on to it. That having been said, it looks nothing like a Daytona. Not does it need to.
