I love my scratches

I am just sayin.....

I looked down at my YM today and saw a nice new one. One I have never seen before, and I have no idea where it came from.

And it gave me a nice warm feeling inside. I love my watches and I am totally OK with them getting scratched up.

That is all, please carry on.......

I like to believe that if you're not wearing it, you're not enjoying it!

I understand - the first scratch usually is the hardest one to deal with!

I like to equate it to an automobile. I can't think of any circumstance I would come out of the store, look at the side of my new multi thousand dollar car, see a scratch/ding/dent and say "Sweet! I love it!". If I pay a bunch of money for something, I'm going to take good care of it for as long as I can since I worked really hard and probably saved a really long time to be able to afford X item in the first place.

for me, this is the first time a car/watch analogy has ever really worked.

that said, with my watches, even tho i profess that they are jewelry, i am totally OK with scratches. like i said, i like them.

with my cars................no way dude. that to me is not ok.

I get your analogy and i get your reasoning. but still, apples and oranges for me.

thanks for the thought provoking response tho. still thinking about why one matters to me, and the other does not.

I totally understand where you're coming from as well and trust me I too get waaaay more bent out of shape about damage to my vehicle than my watch. For me, it comes down to having put out a lot of money on a watch therefore I try to keep it nice, within reason. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys who will put tape on the clasp or anything. Swirls, minor scratches, etc. that can be corrected don't bother me that much as I accept it as part of normal wear and tear while enjoying my fine timepiece. It's banging it around, chipping crystals, putting large dents and deep scratches that I definitely go out of my way to avoid. Always interesting to see where these kinds of threads go

agree, buy them, wear them, use them, enjoy them and don't worry about them

Any idea how many people have called me crazy because I actually use my Platinum Daytona at the racetrack to actually time the race

That's only because there are so many better instruments available for that particular job... (sort of...)

It's the same feeling when your first ever girlfriend left you :D but it gets much easyer! And the first scratch will always be in your memory just like that first girl that scratched and broke your heart :D

I agree with OP. At first I was freaking out over my macbook scratches on my clasp, now there are so many I just live with it. I tell myself it is character.
