Please help me decide today subC and - hulk vs BLNr
Hello TRF
Great community we have here. So I've been reading the site for a few years now and have just registered. I'm really torn on a second watch that would complement well with my SubC black 116610LN for a weekend watch. I've literally gone through the entire Rolex line to find a notable companion to the SubC. To the point of even deciding on the WG sub! But in the end the durability of SS and obvious cost factor won out. So I narrowed it down to the infamous two - 116610LV Hulk OR 116710BLNR Availability of the HuLk is 6-8wk wait around here, but am willing to wait if this is the best option. Almost going insane trying it decide only one if of these as they are both beautiful watches. Lol SMc |

I've owned all three....I still have the BLNR. I love the polished center links and the sporty yet dressy style of it. Can't go wrong with any of your choices thiugh!

As you already have a sub I would recommend the BLNR. Then, you, would, have the best of both worlds,so to speak.

I recently bought the Hulk as my only Rolex and as beautiful as it is the green was a little too much beauty to be wearing every day so I went for my initial choice the Sea Dweller and couldn't be happier. So I suggest the BLNR or Sub LN.
For my the green dial wasn't the issue as much as the green bezel |

Btw - I've read through the many hulk vs batman threads but hopefully this one puts into perspective that the new watch would need to complement the Black dial SuBC. Hopefully this helps someone else... |

+1. More than one modern Submariner is, well, redundant. Get the BLNR. Different watch, different function, different bracelet - it's an entirely different watch and will nicely compliment your existing Submariner.

I think the green hulk is a bit if a novelty with limited wearing potential. It's all green afterall.
The other choices are much more versatile - unless you are willing to wear a very green watch as often as another. |

I'd be inclined to suggest the BLNR for its GMT complication. But based on the "good in pictures, disappointed in person" thread here, make sure you spend time with it in different light (showroom, natural) before you part with the cash.

I would sell the SubC and buy both Hulk and BLNR. Otherwise you have either two black dialled watches or two same model watches.

The SubC has sentimental value though being it was my graduation present and a reflection for my first child so this is not an option unfortunately. |

BLNR to partner the Subc. Also look at the blue YM, also has blue and more differentiated.

Took a look at the YM series, and the new blue dial was in the running for a bit, but fell short as I already have an older blue dial DJ, and more so the inevitable scratches that would get put on the platinum bezel.

to go with your 116610LN, either the LVc, 216570 or daytona. personally, i wouldn't pair a blue/black GMT with a black submariner date. good luck with your choice.

Go with the GMT. Its a different animal than your Sub but will wear the same.

In your situation, I'd actually aim for a white-faced Daytona. Gives you two completely different watches (casual vs. dressy, brushed vs. polished, dive vs. chrono, etc.) and arguably the two greatest sports models Rolex produces. If you must stick to the two options you mentioned, BLNR is the way to go, IMO.

+2 Made perfect sense when I read it... But between the two, it would be a tough choice if I were in your shoes... Batman would be the obvious choice since it is a different model. But you mentioned that the GMT feature will not be used much? To non-WIS, the batman may look the same as your SubC Date.. So voting for the Hulk... Although it is the same watch as your SubC Date, the all green dial and bezel makes it very different... Good luck on choosing man! :-) such a nice problem to have :-) |

Don't know how much travel you do but you do live in a country that spans several time zones. So if you have family/friends across the country or do business in other parts, you might find the BLNR will come in handy.
I suppose it depends on your preferences. If you are wanting a watch that looks different to others, then the green dial obviously distinguishes it from the LN. But if you are looking for more versatile utility, the GMT is the obvious choice because to us the GMT, not the LV, is the different watch. In this regard from a WIS perspective, the GMT is the better choice. The casual non-wis will more likely first notice the LV is different than the watch you have been wearing as the casual observer will pick up on that green dial and bezel before they will notice your old Sub now apparently has PCL's and a partly blue bezel. The blue is more subtle in person. I'd go for the BLNR. Just as an aside, if you are concerned about a different "look" but also want the additional complication, you might also consider the GMT in TT. It can be had for not much more cash than the BLNR.

x3 If this is an option I would go with a white dial Daytona to compliment your SubC, otherwise I think you should decide yourself what will make you smile as your 2nd Rolex to complement your very versatile SubC LN. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have paired my SubC with the 42mm polar Exp2. Great contrast to to the sub- white dial, a bit larger, no ceramic bezel, larger hands, and 2nd timezone function. I think a few others on TRF have chosen this combo as well..
