First Panerai
Hey guys,
Picked up my first Panerai yesterday. A new-to-me Pam 159. Loving the wrist presence and the heft relative to my other watches. I'm also quite a big fan of the "dot" dial vs. the "stick" dial on the newer Luminor GMT models. Looks a lot cleaner to me. Went over to the Panerai boutique on Madison Avenue afterwards to grab a couple straps and had the chance to try on a few other models. Big fan of the 275. I thought the 44mm would be too big but actually really liked how it felt. The 526 was definitely my favorite but too big! My first foray into Panerai but looks like it won't be my last. To me, 44mm is the sweet spot. The 1950 and Radiomir cases are meant to be 47mm but it's just a tad too big for my tastes. I think I could pull off a Radiomir because of the thinner case, the watch just wears smaller. Great choice, I felt similar about the dot dial which took me to a PAM24 initially but I warmed up to the traditional dial layout on my PAM005.
