Too good to be true?
Pretty new to the watch game. Looking to buy a pre-owned rolex and found this seller with some good deals and good reviews on Ebay. Now, I never thought I would buy something like a Rolex on Ebay because it just sounds like a bad idea, but I'm really not versed enough to know much so, hah.
The seller is: http://www.ebay.com/usr/joclub889 And here's a watch that seems too good to be true: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-ROLEX-O...item3f39e78d78 Any advice? |

Why does the watch seem too good to be true? Looks ok to me. However, he does only have 95% positive feedback..

Seller seems a bit moody, watch is nothing special. You should do your homework here for a few weeks before buying anything.

Why would anyone buy a Rolex off of ebay? So many turn out to be "wrong." Unless one were a very experienced buyer in luxury watches and could discern the nuances of real versus Franken-Rolex.
Me, I'd stick to either an AD or sellers on this forum and pay a premium for the confidence of buying a genuine Rolex. Why take a risk, unless you are very wealthy and have money to burn. |

Swiss Made ROLEX 16013 AUTOMATIC Men Wrist
MODIFY TO SAPPHIRE GLASS AND 14K BEZEL, LOOK LIKE 16233 If you buy that and ever send it into Rolex to have it serviced, they will not do it unless you pay to have the watch returned to the original factory specifications.

Good point. Maybe investing more money would be the better choice.

It's a moot point anyway because you are not allowed to ship a Rolex into the United States. If customs catches it, they can confiscate.

The price is so-so, but the watch is bastardized. The sapphire crystal conversion will probably not pass a pressure test like many of those conversions, so if you get that "oyster" wet you'll likely end up owning an attractive paperweight.
I'd pass and find an honest watch in-country.
