I love Jethro Tull, I saw Anderson live a few years ago with other musicians and the show was great...their music really adds something original to the world of rock and roll.

Good band. Saw them play live back in the '80s - a great show

Massive Tull fan since the early '70s.
Have all 20 albums plus "Living in the Past" plus the 20th Anniversary and the 'Cigar Box' sets.
All of Ian's solo albums except "Homo Erraticus", as not in my local music store yet.
Will enjoy it all the more for the anticipation.
I love most genera of music but have always seen Tull as something a bit special due to the originality of the musical style. There is noone else that does anything quite like Tull.
The reason is Ian Anderson's genius for music and lyrics and his ability to deal with so many varied themes, and incorporate so many different styles in his music.
"Under Wraps" is an example of his ability to produce an album that is quite different from what Tull were doing previously but taps into contemporary influences in an experimental way. I find this album quite 'hypnotic' with great melodies and such original lyrics.
Sad I'm missing their Australian Tour due to the greed and deviousness of the ticketing agencies.

I have been a JT fan since 1971. I have 3 bands that I will never stop listening to: Jethro Tull, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Melanie Safka. With all 3, I have everything they ever recorded. My MP3 player is filled with their music and I don't even listen to the radio anymore. The others I never saw in concert, but I've seen Jethro Tull 4 times. Always great!

I saw the last Ian Anderson tour in the front row, seated. It was like my own personal concert. About 5 feet away. TAAB live in its entirety and my face hurt from smiling. TAAB2 was awesome too. Encore blew the pictures from their frames, and the prompter in his corner was sorry that he came.

One of the true super groups from the classic rock era. Only thing that kept them from being even "bigger" than they were (if that was possible) was that I.A. was not a sex symbol type front man. But musically it didn't get any better than Jethro Tull and everyone knew it.

The current tour is coming through my area next month. They will be playing his new album in its entirety plus classic favorites. Anyone heard his new release "Homo Erraticus"? I'm curious to know what to expect.

Thanks.

It's a brilliant album. I'll be attending in October. I wish Ian had a singing voice. But it's still incredible.

I have had a brief listen to a couple of tracks off "Homo Erraticus" to whet my appetite.
I thought they were good, which was a relief as I am not at all keen on TAAB 2.

Yes, we all grieve over the untimely loss of Ian's original striking voice, but at least it didn't stop him from making further great albums.

Jethro Tull did not like hippies - did not play Woodstock

Jethro Tull - fear of naked ladies - Seriously. In an interview with SongFacts.com, Ian Anderson explained why he and the other Jethro Tull guys didn't want to play. Quote...
I asked our manager, Terry Ellis, "Well, who else is going to be there?" And he listed a large number of groups who were reputedly going to play, and that it was going to be a hippie festival, and I said, "Will there be lots of naked ladies? And will there be taking drugs and drinking lots of beer, and fooling around in the mud?" Because rain was forecast. And he said, "Oh, yeah." So I said, "Right. I dont want to go." Because I don't like hippies, and I'm usually rather put off by naked ladies unless the time is right.

I have been listening to Jethro Tull since 1968 when I first heard them on an Underground Radio program on FM Radio here in Chicago. It was FM radio station WSDM and they had a one half hour of Underground Music only on Sunday evening's at 10PM. The DJ was a Lady(can't remember her name)and played a lot of music coming out of Great Britain and the San Francisco music scene. We could only find the albums in Old Town in Chicago on North Wells Street.....some of the groups she played were Pink Floyd, Soft Machine and Aorta(tho, this group came from Chicago)!!!
