Rolex and Omega or Blancpain

Assuming a collection of a SS white Daytona and a 422 PAM, would you rather add this

AND

or ONLY this:

Would love to hear your thoughts and reasoning behind them.

There doesn't need to be any reasoning behind your desire for a new watch.

Even though both Omega and Blancpain are part of the Swatch Group, they do have their followers.

I have always liked the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms but have not got that same flame of desire for the chronograph version. Likewise, I already have a Speedmaster but don't have a desire for the co-axial version..

So, out of these three I would go with the Sub..

If you had a regular Blancpain FF 5015 listed, then that would rise to the top.

You are absolutely right, the last thing we need is rationality for these choices! Myself, I love the looks of the 9300 speedy, with the matte dial and crisp white duo subdial layout.

Thanks for the input!

I really want it to go with one of your choices, but I would rather go with either SUBc date (green or black your preference) or the classic fifty fathoms (non-chrono). keep it simple

If forced to pick one of your choices, I would go with your Blancpain choice, I really believe less is more.

Just to be clear, the options are Sub + Speedy ( would get both) or only the Blancpain Flyback Chrono.

I really like the regular Fifty Fathoms as well, but feel the large watch dial (case is 45mm) looks really great with the chrono.

I too vote for the sub for sure. What a nice pair that would make with the Daytona. After that, if you have desire for another chronograph, then the speedy.

I can't imagine a universe in which a Daytona and a Speedy wouldn't just absolutely fill any chronograph void...Good luck with your decision.

Not the most important aspect but if you're buying new, you'll take a bigger loss on the Blancpain when/if you decide to sell.

That being said, I do like the FF very much. I actually like the Bathyscaphe in Chrono with the new movement.

In your shoes, I'd get the 114060 + regular BPFF. The Flyback Chrono is gorgeous but talk about a tough watch to sell (if you change your mind later). The 114060 and BPFF have ready buyers and I love the history between the two models. Then you'd have the 114060, BPFF, and 422... all evolutions of the classic diver!

I agree with this logic. I would add in addition, the BP FF Sport is absolutely stunning in the metal and a nice change of pace to the two you own!

IMO the Speedmaster is too similar to the Daytona. If you want some variety, save up for the DSOTM.

Sub and Speedy (esp since you have a white daytona...if black I'd question the Speedy).

For some reason I never was much for BP and that bezel.

I don't know if they were going for a nautical theme with an inner tube shaped bezel .

I'm sure it'll grow on me, and if you really like the FF, it's better to get one watch you really like than two you maybe are settling for.

I vote for none of the above. I would add a SDc or Fifty Fathoms (non-chrono).

I would go Subc and Speedie for sure, two beauties. I really like the FF but at 45mm it is rather large, and resale is horrible on these as Mike said.

Another idea is sell your PAM and get just the Subc and a plain dial or chrono if possible FF and look for 30% off even if preowned. Daytona, Subc and FF would be an awesome trio.

Tough call. I love chronos, but with a Daytona I don't see how I'd want to wear any other.
I love the Sub, and it's near the top of the list of my "next watch" list.
I'll catch hell for this, but I am biased against Omega in comparison to Rolex. I've been collecting for 30 years. I had an Omega Broad Arrow (3303? 3033?). It went back twice under warranty. The third time back was on my dime, during which time I bought a new Speedy Pro Moonwatch to wear while the BA was being serviced. The Speedy Pro went for warranty repair FIVE times, and I sold both watches immediately after their return. No new Omegas for me anymore.
My Omega experience is the exception to the rule, so your experience would hopefully be different.
As for WhiteBread/BlancPain, they just don't justify the cost for me. So I cannot speak from experience.

Wow, the choice seems really unanimous here!

Let me try to share some thoughts on this, which I didn't want to do before not to influence the answers.

I have been planning to add the sub + speedy combo for a while, but during that time kept researching different pieces and my interest sparked for the FF flyback chrono as of late. It seems Blancpain is an extremely well respected and regarded brand (I've never owned one) and would be the more unique choice, which is a plus for me.

Nevertheless, there is always the line of thought that it isn't worth it to give up 2 great watches for 1 great watch, so perhaps rationally it would make more sense to pick the sub + speedy combo. I admit that the FF is more of an emotional draw I have for the watch. The regular FF, while great looking, doesn't do the same for me, and I'm not really concerned about resale.

I suppose that after I had made up my mind about the purchase for so long, the FF flyback came along and I'm still under the influence of the "newly found" crush, if that makes any sense. Regardless, these are all watches that I would like to own at some point.
