Apple Watch
Spend thousands on a Rolex or get an Apple Watch?
Just wondering how many of you guys will be getting the Apple Watch or what your feelings are about it? I want one but can't envisage wearing one instead of my Rolex unless I'm at the gym. |

It's not a compelling product. Looks like they did what they could with the concept but meh.

Iphone 6... Maybe... My 5 is still holding up fine.
I already own two smart watches. They are called G-Shocks. They sync up with the atomic clock and are deathly accurate. I'll say it again... This "wearable technology", is not a watch. It's just another digital leash. After all, my phone tells time too, and it's not called a pocket watch. This wearable technology is just softening people up to the idea of simply having a chip implanted in your head a few years from now. Just think... In a few years... The I-Chip. It will do everything. Take a look at your grand kid's future. Resistance is futile... |

I, for one, am happy my wrist is one place where I'm not getting digital data. My phone/computer/iPad have taken over my life. But when I look at my wrist, I don't see any tweets. I don't sift through pictures. I can't check email. And I really like that. |

Now that we've gotten the official word on it today, I doubt I will be getting one. Simply put it doesn't do anything my phone doesn't already do, and my wrist is already occupied by my Rolex. So where would it go, in my pocket with my phone? No point.

I don't think it looks attractive at all. I was actually pretty surprised at that part. I honestly thought that it would look super high end (for this type of product) and have some "Killer" feature. As of right now, and probably for a long time to come, it's mechanical watches for me aside from the G Shock days.
On another note, the Moto 360 looks 100 times nicer... |

The rubber straps look exactly like those found on the Ikepod watches from 10 years ago.

I'll decide when it is actually out, I can see and touch it and learn more about it. Not on the day it is announced.

the apple watch doesn't get released to the public until spring of 2015 anyway.
But i am excited to try it out as a fitness tracker/fun watch. My rolex will never leave though =) |

I am still not sure about it. I am going to have to see it live to decide. I am getting the iPhone 6 for sure though.

Curious how good an experience the watch is if you only wear it on occasion. If I'm Apple I build in features that get better the more you use it, making it so eventually the watch is an essential piece of technology. Fitbit is sort of like that- you don't want to leave it off your wrist for a few days because than you won't be accruing data/counting steps/calories, etc. If Apple has a lot of apps like that and the watch is more useful if worn every day, I wonder how many people will start wearing is exclusively.

if today's product releases are representative of aapl's forward ability to innovate, i don't think it's good news at all.

I do like it, nothing wrong with adding one to the collection, its not an all occasion watch, it is like the system 51 good novelty but it will never replace a true mechanical watch.
