SS Daytona facts

Last year I managed to get a Z series SS Daytona and since 2003 I have had two others, slim hand versions, with the new in house movement.

Can anyone tell me since 2000 when the new movement was introduced has Rolex made any tweaks or improvements to this movement which are in their latest model?

Where can I get more information about specs for the in house model?

Does anyone know what hairspring and balance in the new movement?

& congrats on your Daytonas!!!

The new in-house movement that Rolex introduced in the Daytona-line in the
year 2000, the cal. 4130 has proven itself amazingly and is now regarded as
one of the very best automatic chronograph movements ever!

It has also been used as the base for the new YM-II's cal. 4160 movement.

As for the hair-spring / balance spring used: Rolex used its very own spring
in the 4130 movt ever since it was first introduced
. First it was a "regular"
colored "Parachrom" balance, but just a few years back (don't remember
the exact time) it was upgraded to the even newer "Parachrom Blu" spring!

They both are basically the same, the later version has a blue-ish
color that derives from a sort of oxidation when the Zirconium/Niobium alloy
is exposed to oxygen, directly after the alloy the springs are then made off
leaves the furnace (oven) it is bonded/made in!

So by all means, the 4130 always had Rolex's very own Parachrom balance-spring in it...
the first version was just an earlier "non-blu" version...

Blu or non-blu... the Parachrom balance-spring is a wonderful horological
"icing on the cake" and makes the effort that Rolex went to, in order to rid
themselves of the last "dependence" (the Zenith movt) (not that they could
have done otherwise anyway, as Zenith was bought out by the LVMH group
in 1999 and they wouldn't have supplied the movt outside the group anymore)

even greater!!

The 4130 is an absolute amazing and wonderful chronograph movement, and
the thought that it even has its balance spring manufactured in-house makes
it even more interesting!!!

So again... and enjoy your marvelous Daytonas!!!!!
