Flipped my blnr for a 16710B
I really liked the blue and black ceramic
But really wanted a Pepsi but couldn't find the right one until I came across someone who had this M serial 16710B with 3186 movement that was just fully serviced by Rolex. Luckily for me he really liked and wanted a BLnR and wasn't able to find one and was willing to do a trade deal with me. I wish I had taken a pic of both side by side |

That's a tough trade, the Pepsi bezel is really nice, although the BLNR is quite the piece too. I guess you couldn't really go wrong with either, enjoy the Pepsi, wear it in good health!

Can't say I myself would have done that but they are both great watches and you gotta go with what the gut/heart says! Congrats.

As part of the deal I did get some cash back also so I can save up for a blnr later on. Maybe they can offer an all blue or Pepsi bezel in SS next year!

Thanks! Looks like a mixed bag if would/would not have. I didn't note the particulars which is I got a decent discount on the blnr when purchased new and got after the trade deal my net cost on the Pepsi was quite reasonable. I do realize the pros and cons my experience: I like the bigger size case and markers and different luminous glow of the blnr and ceramic of course and the color! I like the "vintage older" style clasp and brushed vs polished links and that the red and blue is discontinued and this being the 3186 movement and last series of production may in the long term make it more valuable (but I pick watches I wear and like if it goes up and collectible that's a bonus) Since I have a ceramic green sub it fills in the case size and luminous And figured the blnr is current and I can get another one later on but getting the right Pepsi can be challenging! Thanks for all the comments and all the inputs! |

Well done. I know I'm in the minority but I'm not a fan of the BLNR as much as most are. That doesn't mean I dislike it, I think it's beautiful but would take 16710 + cash (whatever is fair) for a BLNR any day. Maybe I'm a Rolex hipster but I don't like ceramic bezels and maxi dials. Once again, I don't know what's wrong with me as I know I'm in the minority, :) Congrats on the 16710, beautiful one you got there.

I agree with Adam.
Since you wanted the Pepsi and found just the right variant in mint condition from a guy who also happened to want the watch you had, it was the perfect opportunity to pull the trigger. While not rare, finding the perfect Pepsi for you would be tougher than finding another BLNR. Enjoy that classic!
