Hello from Denmark
Hi all,
After having lurked around for about a week reading a lot of posts and enjoying the wonderful pics that are posted in the forums, I guess I better tell a bit about myself: My interest in watches started 17-18 months ago when I came across a picture of a Breitling Emergency on the 'net. 1st thought: Wow, I gotta have one of those! 2nd thought: Naah, it's probably a bit too much and a bit too large to be really practical as a daily watch. So I started looking for something similar, but less substantial. I very much liked the Breitlings, so in the end I bought a Breitling Aerospace. Until this point I hadn't given much thought to quartz vs. mechanical/automatic watches, but reading more about other Breitling models, then moving on to Omega, Rolex etc. sparked my interest for automatic watches. That led to the purchase of an Omega SMP (2254.50) a few months later. I really love that watch - it's a though, reliable, not-too-expensive no-nonsense watch that isn't too flashy, but still a joy to look at every day. Some months ago I bought a vintage Boluva Snorkel Automatic. It has been under repair almost ever since (getting parts for these old watches obviously isn't easy), so it hasn't gotten much wrist-time yet :-( Recently I was finally able to buy my first Rolex. I have had my eyes on the SD for some time now, so the choice was easy! That watch is a bunch of excellent engineering, great history and fantastic craftmanship - all wrapped up in a nice little package right there on my wrist! I am afraid this is where this hobby gets really addictive and expensive :-) In the future I see a couple of Breitlings coming, a couple of Omegas (one of them a Speedmaster, of course), a couple of Rolex's (most likely GMT-Master and Yacht-Master) and perhaps even a vintage Sub some day... Looking forward to a lot of fun here! BR, Morten |
