Send it to RSC??

I've been wearing my new SubC for about 3 months. It's been gaining approximately 1 minute per day. I really like this watch so much that I don't want to part with it.

I do have another Rolex that I wore for a long time before this one.

Would you send the SubC in to be fixed or live with it?

Well in general its the hairspring that gets magnetised thus making the watch run very erratic.And they do normally speed up but the original poster states a consistent around a minute a day.So I would doubt if watch is magnetised, plus the factor it has a parachrom hairspring, which Rolex states cannot magnetise unless Rolex is telling porkies.And in the real world regulation is a very simple task that's done almost daily by the many watchmakers world wide. Today I took my SubC to my AD and had them send it in to the RSC. They said that they expected it to take about one month for them to regulate it.
So... Now I'm wearing my TTDJ 16233 that was my only watch for about 25 years. It sure is nice to have at least one more Rolex as a spare. Of course when I was at the AD, they had to show me some interesting and impressive Rolexes just in case I was interested in a closer look. Yes, it was very cool.

Have it checked for magnetism and degaussed first. That almost sounds like the issue.

Yes, sounds like a possible magnetization issue. Most definitely send it in.

And good to hear you have a fall-back watch. I'd be devastated without a Rolex on. That's why I have a few.

I can't believe this takes a month. In Asia, they would turn this over in a week!

I would absolutely send it in. Only downside is the 4-6 week wait! At least a professional will get to the bottom of the issue for you. It does indeed sound like a magnetization issue, although it could definitely be something else.

If your AD had a watchmaker in-house he/she could regulate it while you wait if in fact that was the problem. Same for demagnetizing.

+1. I would of taken it to a local independent Rolex watchmaker. As Peter wrote above, this only takes a half an hour with a water pressure test. Why wait a month or longer?

Send it in for regulation, if you're near an RSC see if you can bring it in yourself and possibly get a shorter wait time...

Thanks for all the replies. We'll see how the RSC handles it under warranty. I really think that this regulation should be rather basic and routine for them. I'll let you all know how it goes.

I received an update call from my AD yesterday. They said that the RSC was going to replace the movement. They also said that there would be an $85 charge for a new winding crown. I know that's not a lot of money, but I thought the warranty would cover everything. What do you think?

I agree, there should not be any charge if it's still under warranty.

Replace the movement, but charge you $85 for a crown, something is wrong with this story.....

One more reason to always deal with RSC yourself and not go through your AD IMHO....

That is Total BS....I think the AD is trying to make $$.

You have a 3 month old 8K watch under warranty...everything should be free to fix.

Obviously there is a defect in the movement if they are replacing....sounds strange and I guess it happens sometimes, but that is what the warranty is for.

I would fight them on the $85 unless they have some FANTASTIC Explanation
