"Tool watches"

Just wanted to share a pic with you guys, since I purchased my black bay I've used it pretty much everyday as a tool watch or daily beater and wear my subs for a little less risky activities such as dinner and casual things. I enjoy the watch so much more this way rather than only wearing it when it's "safe", they were made to be used! I like to see watches being used and enjoyed so feel free to share your pics!

So are you no longer enjoying your sub then?

Rolex doesn't really make tool watches (IMHO) any more. Your Tudor fits the bill nicely though. Good choice.

Not to sound rude but I wouldnt use a ' tool watch' to do a job when it cost more than all of my tools put together.

Nice BB but the sub can handle anything the BB can.

I wouldnt say a rolex is a tool watch its definitely a luxury item playing on its history of what it once was. Hence they are now concentrating on releasing precious metal versions of previous steel models like the BLRO and ceramic rose gold daytona etc. I wont be surprised if the sea dweller comes out in yellow gold at basel soon!

I don't know about that. I just wore my SS Sub this past weekend down in the Philippines doing tactical training in armed close-quarter combat (Krav Maga) in the rain and free diving and we're (me & the watch) both fine save for a black eye. Rolex has made precious metal Subs & GMTs since the 60's...so what? Doesn't take away from the quality of the watches. Maybe it's just a lot more of the MEN who are less rugged

Sure you could wear your SS sub doing most 'rugged' things and it will still tick and put up with serious abuse but when your spending thousands of dollars on your watch theres probably better watches out there for that kind of thing i.e casio. so maybe its actually the prices and not the men that wear them.

I spend thousands on my watches so that I can use them... not keep them in a safe until I can take them out on the weekend to set them on a doiley, with protective stickers on them & admire them.

That's your choice to do with your watches the majority would probably take there's off. Just because I don't play rugged in the mud doesn't mean I don't use my watch. It hasn't been off my wrist since I've had it for the past few months unless I was in the gym or going to bed.

I agree, I know Subs can take a beating for sure but for the price point I would rather use a tudor as a tool watch.

Your Sub would be safe doing the activities you are using your BB for ... Not really 'tool' activities requiring a 'tool' watch IMO ... And I'd rather have the Sub on my wrist. The sub is too nice to wear only occasionally.

Love the BB though.

Same here. And Subs were designed for diving, not operating earth movers. Put a serious ding in you Sub's case and it can lose hundreds of dollars in value. Sure its a tool watch, but its made by Rolex, not Black & Decker.

The black bay is a great daily wear. When the going gets rough though, I find myself wearing my GShock Mudman. That way no matter what happens to it I have no regrets. As soon as I get home, I swap watches. But that's just me.

Amen, brother. My G-Shock does the hazardous duty. Rolex does everything else.

My first Rolex (and first "good" watch) was my TT Sub. I wore it every day for about 18 years doing absolutely everything (working in bars, skiing, boating, motorcycling, etc). Sure, it got bashed around, but it still looks great.

These watches are a lot tougher than we make out!

All Rolex watches are tough, no doubt. The definition of tool watch means it's purpose built, no bling, no noble metals required or desired. It's an obviously lucrative approach that they have arrived at. Some embrace this some don't.
