Let me tell you a few words about the situation here in Europe: I find that most authorized dealers have the same prices (give or take), however I hear that because of the extremely weak dollar it makes sense to fly to the USA or Canada and get one there.

My favorite is Explorer II which here in Europe costs 3800 EUROs without tax (in a duty-free zone like at the airport; in an EU country you have to add from 15-20% on top), so I was wondering if anyone could list me some authorized dealers in the USA or Canada with the price of the said watch? If the info would be considered adveritising, please send me a PM. Thank you in advance!

Or, would it make sense to buy it at the airport?

If you toss in airfare, accomodations, and import duties; I'm not so sure you can beat the duty free price..

US prices seem to be a bit better than Canadian.

PM either Felly Jr or KansaiVet, they can hook you up with their respective ADs in tax free Oregon. And Tools is right, US prices is better than Canadian prices.

I guess it is about the same distance if you are from Europe but the prices you get there is definitely going to be cheaper than the U.S or Canada, and you won't need to pay taxes at all.
You will earn your trip and get a nice Rolex.

cayman dollar is officially pegged to ours, and the exchange rate in mexico is usually pretty good.

i think malaysia is the cheapest as i checked prices when i travel hk, spore, on regular basis n had checked in brunei, aust, eu, usa, etc.. at both local n duty free shops. the currency is weak n overheads (labour, rent, etc.) is lower than most of the 'tax free' countries

You're looking for an Expy II, right? I paid $2800 USD for a 1998 Expy II last November from a grey dealer on ebay. It had the original box and papers and service receipt less than a year old. True, I lucked into a better deal than a lot of folks were getting, but timing is everything where bidding is concerned. Tax free, too.

Just be smart and pay in a way where you're protected. I paid via paypal using a charge card. That way, if I get scammed I have 3 routes of recovery: (1) via stop payment with my credit card company, (2) via paypal grievance process, and (3) via ebay's grievance process.

Even if I wanted to buy from a brick-and-mortar location in another country, though, I don't think I'd fly there. In today's age there's no need to go somewhere for a watch when technology can bring the world to your doorstep.

caribbean's very good, no tax here in Turks and can typically negotiate 10 percent on stainless steel models, maybe more

Excellent deals are available on CASH (those guys hate Plastic); but just make sure you go to an AD only. Too many dodgy shops out there.

I would say buy it at an AD in your own country. Not only are you supporting your local jewellers you are also establishing what could be a great and profitable relationship and also have the peace of mind that if you have any bother, you can deal with somebody face to face.

I looked at a moonwatch from Amazon.com as the pound was so strong against the dollar, it seemed like an awesome deal. By the time I had paid UK duty and postage etc, the watch would have worked out £70 cheaper??!!!?? That £70 would be well spent at an AD...trust me!
