First Rolex GMT Coke
Hi everyone, not new to Swiss watches but this is my first Rolex, glad to have gotten my hands on one that I have liked the look of for years. I was involved in the "desert bond" post by Philipp as Alex (the guy looking to find out about my friend's 6538 that he came out and bought). When I met Philipp his enthusiasm for the brand made me decide it was finally time to get one, just was a matter of finding the right one. Here's my 16710 Coke Stick Dial (or "error dial" even though I don't consider it an error cause it looks great to me). Love the look of this and hope it will be the start of a collection that I'll be able to grow over time. Also looking forward to learning a lot here, I've skimmed the surface and wow there's a lot of knowledge here!

Since this place is loaded with know, could someone please explain why this is called an "error" dial? I really love GMT's just not sure what's "wrong" with the dial ( I agree it looks GREAT! )

Thanks everyone for the responses and thanks for the pictures too, lots of gorgeous GMTs!
From what I've read Rolex hasn't ever really officially said anything about it being an error on their part at all. There are some late Z serial 16710s out there with the 3186 movement instead of the 3185 that have the stick dial. However mine is a 3185, confirmed by my D serial, and a watchmaker giving it a looking over once I got it in. |
