New Root Beer?

Anyone out there think they'll ever be a new Root Beer GMTII ceramic? That is one I would LOVE to see...I had one years ago and wish I still did...part of me thinks the next dual color bezel being that one would be AWESOME...but may never see that one again...

That would be amazing, might as well wish to have it on a jubilee while we're at it!

New Root Beer?

I don't think so. That color combo is a true acquired taste - imo - and I don't think Rolex is too much into creating non- PM watches without the ability to sell in high volume.

I agree it is- but I think an updated version with ceramic would get all of us - Root Beer fans in the AD pretty quickly!!!! Especially since the dual color bezels look SO good!

Perhaps...but how many fans worldwide would this really mean?

I just don't think the color combo has legs for massive sales.

You may be right...I bet there are quite a few out there, but I'm with you. Two tone may be the next best candidate for the dual color bezel...hey - maybe they'll come up with something else! Who knows!

Good call on the possibility of the coke bezel...what I wonder about that one - is would it be SS? Since the Pepsi is in WG...Rolex wouldn't want to impact sales there OR of the BLNR- but there are no doubt folks that like one better...I was thinking / hoping since we've seen a SS and an all bold dual color...maybe a nice two tone would be next...maybe wishful thinking...but I'll take the first one from my AD!!!!

Do it solid Rose Gold and watch everyone here lose their damn minds.

If they did a 116713 Rootbeer I'd likely get one. I've talked about it many times on TRF but it would have to be a solid brown ceramic (like the platona) with YG numerals, and the same dial hardware/hands as the 116718 Green dial but in sunburst rootbeer.

How many members here have precious metal Rolex models with brown dials or bezels? It'd sell.

The release of Coke in White Gold first was a mistake and I think judging by the number of watch magazine articles I've read attesting to the same that Rolex has probably heard it. In releasing an SS Coke though I think they have to change the dial or something on the watch to differentiate it from the precious metal version and not piss off those clients, as they've done with the Daytona. Would have been smarter, in my opinion, to release it in SS first followed by white gold later.

Wouldn't mind seeing Root Beer. Appeals to a lot of folks and I think it would work.

Why not a ceramic root beer. Look at all the hype about the BLNR, to get half the insert a different color. But like the return of fan-favorite Pepsi, a new root beer would likely have to be an all precious metal watch to justify the R&D/manufacturing expense... if rumors are to be believed re the cost of BLRO inserts then brown and gold would probably be too expensive to do in TT.

Perhaps...I just think that the Root Beer looks way better in TT. Prefer other precious metal options. It would be a great way to share some of the dual color love and get that TT market....there's a lot of TT love out there!!!!

Agreed, revival of a TT root beer could both look great and sell well. I wonder how complicated and expensive R&D/manufacture of a ceramic insert in those colors would be.

Coke with TT(RG) and/ or full RG is what I think they will come out with.

Rolex has perfected the Brown Ceramic Bezel on the platinum Daytona, we could see a new Root Beer GMT2 Ceramic.
I'd love it !

Wait, is an all brown insert with just gold numerals sufficient to be called root beer or does it have to be brown/gold that's split in two colors in the manner of a Pepsi or BLNR.

I don't know if I would think it would be a cost issue for Rolex...I mean...they have PLENTY of 30K plus retail watches to subsidize costs - not that I think they would need to subsidize anything! I think it's neat to limit certain varieties to particular pieces BLRO - case in point...

Fun for Rolex curmudgeons...However, the mass market imo doesn't care for what was - even back in the day - not a barn burner of a watch SKU for Rolex.
