Has anyone come up with this idea to identify fake Rolexes?
Since Rolexes are built to exacting standards, each model should weigh a certain amount down to the hundredths or thousandths of an ounce. Why not just use a jeweler's scale to determine if a Submariner for example is real or fake based on its weight?

The 'counterfeiters' would soon get wise and make sure their 'watches' weighed the correct amount

We do not disscus anything about fakes in the Rolex watch forum, and whats stopping a fake to be the exact weight of a genuine watch.
