I have trained for many years out of Torrance the Original Graice Academy started by Rorian Gracie eldest son of Helio. It is currently run by my life long friend who calls me Uncle Ken to this day Rener Gracie sin of Rorian. I stopped training and competing back in 2004 after an injury to neck which required surgery. I also know in Miami you have an original Gracie Academy run by two of the best Gui and Pedro Valente. I used to see them in tournaments years back and they are affiliated with our school. So for me lots of years and many of hours training with the best of the best! Cheers,

Ken, I was out there in Torrence in 99 (spring/summer)... Were you there then? I wonder if we ran into each other?

Awesome, I took their intensive training program they have (had). It was around 25 hours a week of training mon-sat... Might've just been mon-Fri and sat was just sparring, Can't remember.

I don't recall Rener being there back then, just Royce and Rorian. Is Royce not part of the Academy anymore?

Don't remember seeing anyone rolling around with a Patek on lol

Rener and Ryron were there then and did teach. Royce left and started school in Hermosa in 2001 or so. Saturday after class was open mat sparring till noon. As for Patek and Jiu Jitsu not a good combo but could start an Is it Safe thread.

PS. Rorian and Royce did teach before Rener and Ryron took over all classes around 2000 or so with Rorian teaching once in a while and still doing one on ones.

Pretty cool Ken. Valente brothers do have a school down here in north miami beach. I train with Rilion gracie who taught roger his gaurd and corners for him when he made his debut in the UFC. Great guy and you are lucky to have known the gracie family so well. You should definitely get back into it!
