116233 Info

First poster here, thank you in advance for your help. I am looking for a pre-owned Rolex, stainless & gold jubilee band, fluted bezel, silver dial with diamond markers, model 116233 I believe. My questions are: I prefer the new style case with no pin holes what year did this start? There appears to be 3 different type of jubilee bands, 1 with a rolex emblem protruding at the clasp, a smooth clasp on the outside and the newer hidden style. Which of these are consistent with the newer style case? What should I expect to pay for this watch in near new condition?

I think that you might do well calling your local authorised dealer to get an idea on the price. From there it is really up to you to shop around for price from other dealers and perhaps the internet if you feel confident enough to buy via that medium.

Welcome and good luck

Welcome to TRF!

You are right.

The very old style Jubilee bracelet had a smooth clasp with the crown protuding, as you say, the crown acting as a help to open the clasp.

Later, the smooth (or rather: satinised) clasp with the Rolex coronet on it a bit above the middle of the clasp was introduced.

And in 2004, with the new DJ style, the hidden "Crown Clasp" came, that previously had been reserved for the all-gold Jubilee and President bracelets.

The DJ 116233 ("TT" [=two tone) - steel/yellow gold DJ) is currently US $ 8,750 at an AD.

Since AD's earn more on TT and YG watches, you can expect to get a good discount. 15 %+ would not be unlikely, imho.

Best of luck!

Any dating information on the case change from visible pin holes to concealed and pre-owned values on a 116233 from say 1998 to 2004 in 95+% condition. Thanks again.
