Crosswind - a blessing in disguise !!

This is a dead serious post, guys....so listen up....and no wisecracks!!

Okay, I bought the Crosswind for TWO reasons....

1. The minute I walked into Watches of Switzerland, it caught my eye sitting there in the display cabinet under the SALE sign.

2. The price on it was just too damned good to pass up. Trust me, fellas, the final price of US$2,400 which I paid, well you'll never get that price anywhere on any site....ever.

So how does that make it a "Blessing in Disguise"? Good question! Well, you remember how I was so keen on the TT Daytona? Don't get me wrong....I still love and admire that watch very much, but there are TWO things about the Crosswind that do piss me off....and this is God's honest truth!!

1. The stationary second hand.
2. The white hands on white dial camouflage.

...making both factors a major contribution in time readability....absolutely horrendous!!

Which makes me think....what if I had foolishly bought the TT Daytona on impulse and then realised these problems (and a NO DATE to boot!!! )...then I would have really been stuck with a VERY EXPENSIVE watch with hardly any resale value.

At least with the Crosswind (even if I decide to keep it, which I may), the investment (if you could call it such) of NZ$3,500 is pretty meagre as compared with what I would have had to shell out for the TT DT (NZ$13,200 = US$9,000).

So, as they say, sometimes certain things happen for the best. And anytime you guys want to see more pics of the Crosswind, just let me know!! This last bit was the only silly bit in an otherwise very serious thread.

JJ

Don't forget JJ is(was) looking at the TT Daytona, which doesn't enjoy the same resale as the SS models.

I'll take a tt daytona's resale any day over a breitling. I owned one and had to practically pay somebody to buy it from me.

I dont know what you mean by stationary second hand, it is a chrono, you can run the 2nd hand all the time, cant you...which brings up an interesting point, when checking accuracy you have to use the subdial for the 2nd hand?

With those kinds of comments, you're a wimp, not a tosser. At this rate, you're going to retreat, not advance.

JJ, the real reason you bought the Crosswind was because it had been almost 6 months since your last watch trade. You were having watch purchase DTs. You were starting to shake and get headachey. You couldn't walk past a watch store without being sucked inside. You were primed for a purchase. You needed a new SS white dial watch.

And you somehow knew that pics of this one would drive Ralph over the edge.

You might be off the list now. Remember, I'm not number one, but I'm in the top four with some mighty good company

Hey, Randy. It's good to see you back here. How have you been? What's new?

Stick around and perk this place up.

Guys, guys, this was a serious post!!

Let me recap...

1. Crosswind has a stationary hand and camouflage....reading time is a nightmare!! (I know I should have reaslied this when I bought the watch, but in all fairness, it was an attractive deal and I bought it).
2. TT Daytona has bugger all resale value as compared with an SS one. So I shall NEVER be buying a Daytona - can't stand the STATIONARY second hand.
3. Selling the Breitling (Andrew, please note) will be easy since I bought it so damn cheap in the first place. I know it will go and I will make a profit.

End of story - JJ

I'm serious, Mark....way too expensive at an explosive US$9,000 and the stationary hand is something I can NEVER get used to....what a pain in the arse each time you look at your watch and have to look at a STOPPED second hand (that tiny miniscule moving second hand can hardly be seen!! ).
