Watch washing time...... a family affair
I decided to wash my Sub yesterday when all of a sudden my 3 and 5 and a half year old busted in and wanted in on the action. We washed five watches total, including my wife's. They actually had a pretty good time helping out. Oh yeah, and that G-shock has never been cleaner... They did a great job!

You're braver than I!!!! My four year old would have immediately dropped the watch on the counter and smashed the crystal. Nice collection of watches, and a couple of cuties you have there. Next time I'm in Lake Geneva, we should set up a GTG, lots of members in the area.

Cute! It's fun to have the family involved. My wife and kid think I am nuts when I am sitting there scrubbing down a watch :)

Thanks for all of the nice comments! My girls had a good time helping me out.
The Accutron Spaceview was my dad's watch. My uncle gave it to him around 1970 or so. He gave it me when he came across it in a drawer and found out I was into watches. The coolest part is that one day we were looking through my parent's old wedding album, and there it was, right on my dad's wrist! I have had the piece worked on in the past, but now sadly the hands do not turn when adjusting the time. I think this will be one of those that will sit non-working, but still maintain sentimental value. The watch in the lower right is from a company call Tokyo Flash. They make all kinds of digital watches that take a bit of "decoding" to tell the time. This one is the "Negative", it's pretty neat. The time is displayed in the negative space of the face of the watch. Here it says 1:16 (sideways). It lights up in a bunch of different colors, has the day and date, alarms, etc... fun casual piece. The only other watch missing from the pictures is an automatic Movado, that I recently gave to my brother due to lack of wrist time. As for washing practices, I usually go with a gentle rinse, followed by a mild soap, light scrub with a children's (new) toothbrush, followed by drying with microfiber cloth. Pretty easy steps, and the results are great. Thanks again for looking! *No watches were harmed in the making of this thread |
