WG GMT BLRO - Just couldn't do it
Went with a friend to AD this evening so he could buy a gift for his mom and while there I asked about the new WG GMT BLRO. My AD friend had one in the back and brought it out to show me. I took off my BLNR and slipped on this amazing beauty. What an incredible piece - the muted bezel colors are sublime next to the warm white gold case and bracelet.
When we started talking numbers, however, I just couldn't get my mind around the astronomical price. As I compared the hot and seductive BLRO to my patient and nervous BLNR, I appreciated both in unique and special ways. For now, though, I'm going to hang on to my BLNR and wait for a great deal on a preowned BLRO down the road. P.S. For those who will want to know about the cyclops mag on this specific BLRO, I can report that it was true 2.5x - clearly larger than the mag on my BLNR by a mile. The mystery continues!! |

I wish this came in SS so it would be a more reasonable price!

I'd still go for the Smurf. More affordable (pre-loved I mean), and to me more appealing as well than the BLRO. The metal bezel draws me away from the Daytona, so it's not an option for me. That said, I completely understand why people love the BLRO looks. It's a great piece, but I just can't get over the purplish tone of the blue half-bezel :(

If I didn't own the WG Sub, I would have the BLRO.

I love the matte colors on the bezel after seeing it first hand and think it's a total winner.
Don't think I'd put it above my 116718LN though. |

Ridiculous proposition at a ridiculous price Rolex are really taking customers for mugs on a white gold GMT Pepsi - absurd if not a fingers up idea not to make this a SS watch for the loyal masses

Have you looked at other Rolex precious metal retail prices....the Daytona has a retail price of 1000 less than the newly introduced BLRO Also compare other companies and their solid gold watch prices. I find that Rolexes precious metal models are priced very reasonably. And good for Rolex making it available only in precious metal. I would honestly hate to even think how many thousands of incomings on here we would have to endure if it was in stainless. |

Wow, you guys sound terrible. TRF is a place where like minded people can go and discuss their passion for watches. I for one like "incoming" posts whether they are for a $100 watch or a $100,000 watch, it's all about sharing the excitement of a new or new to me timepiece. Sorry but had to say something. |

Sorry you thought I sounded "terrible" I did put my a winky face ;-) next my statement in jest about incoming threads. That said, I agree with sharing passion for watches makes TRF great. However, to me...passion is not expressed via obsession on what discount others have received / might receive on a product in sky-high demand... Again that's to me. One thing I like about TRF is that we can have different opinions and *joke* about threads like incomings, price increases and "Is it safe to wear my Rolex in the loo in Pakistan..." Or whatever. |

To be honest, I can't understand why there has been a backlash on the pricing of the BLRO. Yes, it is offered in precious metal only. So what? Many of the other models in the Professional Series are offered in precious metals and I do not recall the last time a negative thread was posted regarding these other models. Is the BLRO expensive? Yes, however, it depends on how one defines expensive. For a white gold Rolex Professional series watch, it is a little on the high side, but still fairly priced. It retails for $41,100 CAD before taxes. In all honesty, if a person is on the market for a BLRO, or another $40K watch, would it really make a difference if the MSRP was $39,000 instead of $41,000? It would not to me if I was in a position to buy one of these guys. If a person is serious about a specific watch and can afford it, the price is truly a secondary concern, if that.
