Rolex Boutique Robbed!!!

Apparently several suspects hit the Mayors Rolex Boutique in International Plaza Tampa, FL this afternoon. Crazy stuff to see on the news in my own backyard. Stay safe out there folks.

Yup. Caught wind of this right after it happened. Same backyard for me and our own Dr Tom Kerr as well. Very exceptional sales staff and good hearted people employed there. Awful. I hope that the scum has what's coming to them.,

It's a smash & grab, and the police answer with a full active shooter response. That's the dangerous part! Good thing no one was hurt.

What happens to the AD? Does insurance cover it, minus a deductible? What are we talking, a $2000 loss?

Yeah, guessing the insurance would cover it but can imagine it causes a hell of alot of hassle reordering the stock, replacing the damaged fixture and the store losing valuable time by being closed.

be interesting to know what kind of security the store has? Maybe time for one of those 'buzz in, buzz out' doors

EDIT: Reminds me of the time Parkhouse (Southampton, UK Rolex AD) got robbed. The thieves used a lorry to reverse into the front of the store where the Rolexes were displayed. Not sure what security measures can prevent that sort of action though

Insurance will cover it, but inventory replacement is almost always a problem. Watches will be received from other Mayor's Rolex Boutiques and their corporate office in Tamarac. Smash and grabs happen at these stores way more often than reported. The only reason this one made the news is because gunshots were reported and the police responded as if it was an active shooter/hostage situation.

Those guys sure picked a stupid time though. The holiday season just ended a week ago and inventory is depleted. I was just in that store with my girlfriend on 1/2/15. Aside from some temporary glass and a lot of empty Rolex cases, you would never guess anything happened. Not sure what those guys got away with, but that store did have a paved platinum DD as well as the platinum Daytona i posted pictures of last week, so they likely made off with a bunch of stainless steel as their precious metal inventory did not appear depleted at all.

I don't understand what they could hope to get out of it, besides high profile and serial numbered items! Goes to show criminals don't always think things through. Glad everyone is safe.

Stupid move...bad enough to steal, but why would you take high-end serialized rolexes?

Pretty soon it will be like airport screening to get into an AD. Truthfully, I couldn't blame them for taking that step either. Unbelievable.

Very glad to hear no one was injured, only been in there once but had a very good conversation with one of the female sales people regarding a future SS DJ for my wife. Hope they catch the bastards and the heavy hammer of the law drops hard and fast.

There seems to be a rash of these thefts going on in the last few months. There was a guy in Pennsylvania who would ask to look at a Rolex and then run out of the store as soon as the clerk got it out of the case. He's shown up on surveillance cameras in a couple of states (at least it looks like the same guy). A couple of other sledgehammer thefts too, including a group who tore across my state, Michigan, late last summer. They hit my AD among other stores. The cops eventually caught the thieves, but the watches haven't been recovered.

I live in a fairly nice area as well and our local Brietling dealer requires an I'd befor you can even handle a watch!

The local mayors, which is located writhin yards of Prada, Omega, Tiffany & Co, requires you to buzz yourself in before entering.

BTW ... Do you ever notice that Rolex is the only brand that gets stolen like this? You never hear about big, brazen robberies of Patek Philippe, Panerai, Vacheron Constantin, Omega, IWC, or whatever. Thugs are one-trick ponies.

Crazy, and sad!

Many years ago, the Mont Blanc boutique at "The Shops at Willow Bend" in Plano, Texas got robbed. Again, no one was hurt but same kind of deal.

Not true at all. AP, Panerai, and IWC have all been stolen this way all over the Caribbean and Europe for years. Just last year 4+ stores on different islands got robbed in smash and grabs. Not a Rolex dealer among them. In one theft they took 250K in AP alone.

I just bought a Sub-C there in September. Very nice people. My wife's friend was right outside the store when it happened and she posted a picture of someone in custody from her cell phone. I hope they get the scumbags and I hope Mayors restocks soon too because I'm in the market for an Explorer II.

I'd like a list of serials that were taken.., surely they'll show up in Miami or New York first.
