Submariner links

Hi guys - quick question...

My partner bought me a YG Sub (116618LN) for christmas. Lovely gesture and I really like it - however...

It only has 9 links - TOTAL. I think the dealer has pulled a fast one and used it for links for other sales and then sold this one with far too few links. Even at full 20mm extension it's not even close to going on my wrist and the links are super expensive each.

Before I start a war with the AD, can you comment? I was told elsewhere that an oyster bracelet should have 13 links as standard, is that right?

I thought subs had 13 but soon the experts will chime in.

The 116618 YG comes with 12 links. Each additional full link costs $705.

The stainless & TT Submariner comes with 13 links.

Don't shoot me, I am just the messenger!

Thanks for the info - just out of curiosity, why does a gold sub come with 1 less link than an SS or TT? Just Rolex trying to make money? Are the gold ones bigger?

My WG GMT M II didn't have any problems :(

.

97208 comes from factory with 13 links (just like the SS version 97200) :

. 6 removable links
. 1 half link
. (2x) 3 links attached to the SEL.

Whomever the AD was, they definitely pulled a fast one. 3 links for a total of $2115? Ouch.

Let us know how it turns out. Good luck,

A brand spankin' new one will come with 12 links plus a half link. If it was sold as used then it comes as-is and the Dealer doesn't owe you any extra links..

These are expensive and perhaps the AD can get you a good price for replacements or a refund of the purchase if it is a used example.

I know this is random but i'm looking into buying a brand new Sub what would be the best version to go for. Didn't want to start a whole thread just for my one NOOB question lol. Thank you :)

So... The AD has agreed that there are obviously links missing. They are ordering in a replacement watch and have agreed to:

1. Give me a FOC additional link that I will need to get it to fit correctly (I've got massive wrists :) ) - $705 USD value

2. Provide a FOC extra link for my TT DJ II that I've yet to have fitted - $210 USD value

3. $3000 USD store credit that I have already spent (Explorer II, here I come!!)

Not a bad resolution, I don't think - although the whole thing has been a pain in the balls! Thanks to everyone for your advice/support - I really appreciate it.

Were all the stickers on the original watch?

Sounds like all the removable links have been removed.

If it was new and sized previously, look underneath the pillow in the box for a small plastic baggie with 3 links.

If it was pre-owned, it is what it is/has like Larry said.

It was new and nothing under the pillow... Time for a little chat, me thinks!

More than a "little" chat, Chris. If that was new then that AD is stealing from you, IMO. Not only should the additional links be provided with a profound apology but they should throw you some excellent Rolex goodies and/or give you a large discount in the shape of a refund!
That's $2250 that they tried to take from you, borderline if not criminal.
Please let us know how this works out.

IMHO, if the watch was sized, it is no longer new. Maybe a customer bought it, they sized it, and he/she changed their mind? Doesn't matter. I honestly wouldn't care why they sized it. And if they did size it, where are the links? They either need to get you an actual new watch or provide the links and a refund to match the cost of a used/LNIB watch.

Agree and if this was supposed to be a new watch I would not accept it and either get my money back or get a brand new one untouched!

Wow. I have no idea how expensive is each link. If I have to guess, I would think these links would cost less than $100 each. Now I wonder how much is the whole bracelet!

I just bought a SubC and I can see 9 links on the watch plus a possible half-link. I took out the box and sure enough, there are 3 links inside the box under the watch pillow.

I would think the gold alone would be over $100, not to mention the manufacturing costs and the "official Rolex" status.

I see. Somehow I missed the part that this is for a gold Submariner.

Uh, I did read the whole thread. I was replying to Mis3 who said that he couldn't believe how expensive the links were (so obviously he saw the price as well) and he would've guessed that they would be under $100. I was merely stating the gold alone would be over $100, with the remainder of the cost tied up in manufacturing, marketing, etc.

Steel links are under a hundred bucks.. But gold links are considerably more pricey. The gold bracelet runs 15-20,000 bucks.

Was the watch bought from an Authorized Rolex Dealer as a new watch? If it was, call Rolex headquarters in England. They will take care of it.

My Hulk has 12 full links plus the half link. Is the stainless Sub the only one with the 1/2 link?
