Icon4 Need a security solution for my watch winder tower

Hey all...

I put my most expensive watched in this winder tower and it has key locks but I'm always worried that the entire tower will be stolen as is.

Need some sort of alarm siren to sound if someone picks up the tower or tilts it etc.

Any suggestions?

I have done a quick search but did not find a simple solution.

The locks do not look secure anyway, and I assume that is just regular strength glass?

Are you trying to keep them on display or not?

So carrying off the whole unit would not be the first choice for a thief. Breaking the glass or picking the locks would be. Better keep watches in a safe.

I'm mainly worried about the company that comes to clean my apartment twice a week. Most of the times, I am not even home when they come.

So the locks will stop them from opening the case, but I'm always in fear that they pick up the entire tower and take it. Maybe a loud siren will get them scared and leave it back down.

They would look too conspicuous carrying that out the door. Better break the glass and take the watches. Either way they won't be back. Better to hide them away, or clean your own apartment.

Well the main idea behind the tower was to display them in my room :)

Love to look at them every time I walk in. So the safe box option will take a way the fun factor of seeing them every day.

It seems that nothing beats a quality safe of large heavy size or a safety deposit box.

I know it would be fraud. I'm just surprised that insurance companies would take such a risk. Its very easy to claim such a fraudulent case!

That is a gorgeous tower but not very practical/secure.

Just unsure them for full replacement value and keep them on display.

I have two hidden safes in my home and a safe deposit bank.....

Why don't you have a piece of custom mirror cut to the size of the front of this unit. Then when you are going to be out, you just slide that over the front of the door (held up by mirror clips) and they will think you have some fancy rotating profile mirror.

I googled "pressure sensitive alarm" and mostly found like an audible alert for medical patients for when the get out of a chair/bed. I'd think that might at least be that audible alert if the tower is moved, but maybe hardly enough to scare someone off.

There also appears to be pressure mats designed by two plates, so if they touch (ie. someone steps on them) they complete a circuit triggering an alarm. If they have those, then my limited electronics knowledge would deduct you could utilize a similar pressure mat and alarm system to detect a break in a circuit (ie. lifting your tower off the mat). This might be something that need to be installed/consulted through a professional home security company though.

Need a security solution for my watch winder tower

Put it inside of one of these and keep the door open when you are home. Problem solved. 700+ lbs. they won't carry this off without help.

Awesome tower man, where can I get one?
As far as insurance goes, i'm not aware of an insurance company that insures watches in Kuwait, and if the cleaning crew thought of stealing it they would just break the glass. I do not think that they would carry the whole thing.

My advice is to get a good safe if you don't own one, and just store the watches in it when the cleaning crew comes in, and put them back up when they leave

Yeah I have a safe and I guess I can do that, keep moving them from safe box to tower while cleaning company comes in.

Hmmm and yeah I googled all the terms members suggested, nothing solid yet ;)

Thank you all for the feedback.
