2008 Submariner

Hi all, newbie here!

Is it true that the 2008 Sub isn't available with the blue face (although I like the old color blue better) and a 18K/SS bracelet? I plan to purchase one in the next few month's. If they don't make the 18K/SS bracelet should I hold off or are the slight improvements not worth the wait (assuming 2007's are still available)?

First time poster, second time Rolexer!

Welcome to TRF!

The classic TT Blue Sub (DARK blue dial) is still made, and personally I would go for that one if I were you. Some have reported that even some of the TT Blue Subs have a different shade of blue (slightly lighter), though, but it's just a matter of picking out the RIGHT blue.

You just might be disappointed when you see an "updated" TT Blue Sub Date since imho it would get the same hideous super light blue dial (and matching ceramic bezel insert) as the YG Sub Date has that was introduced at the Basel Fair this year.

As for "improvements", I don't believe much actually CAN be improved on the classic Cal. 3135 beating inside the current Sub Dates...It's a workhorse movement that's been tested by time. All those "Parachrom Bleu" (new hair spring) and "Paraflex" (new shock protection system)inventions are just sheer marketing hype, imho.

Thanks Space!!!

So if I was to have my wife (in the jewelry business) order me a new TT Sub Date with the darker blue dial how would I specify it so I got exactly what I wanted. Is there a specific item number? Sorry for being so lame. I agree with you, the lighter blue looks hideous.

Welcome UWdawg - that TT Sub is a fabulous looking Rolex - one of the best they've ever turned out. Best of look tracking one down.

Apologies, there!

'Look' should have read 'luck'.

Anyway, I hope you find yourself a real nice one.

I'd wait and get the new Sub with that Joker's blue if I were you, dawg....though I must admit that the current bluesy is one heck of a handsome watch.
