Sub-date bezel problems!
Hello,
my first post! I`ve had my Sub Date (16610) for 12 months ans the rotating bezel has become unbearable stiff and rocks back and forth when pressed. I assumed this is not normal and took it to the Official rolex dealer from whom i bought the watch and they said it may not be covered by the 2 year warranty! can anyone advise me if it would be covered as they`ve sent it off to be assessed and the RSC but told me i may be liable to pay for any repairs! regards, Jeffo |

Welcome to TRF!
If the bezel moves both back and forth, probably there is a problem with the spring under the bezel. This would be a warranty issue, imho. I'd contact your nearest RSC if your AD (again) refuses to service it under guarantee. Another reason for the bezel being stiff could be dirt having assembled underneath the bezel. But I doubt that's the problem since you can move the bezel both ways (as it should not do). Best of luck!

Usually the warranties are on what's in the inside of the watch and not the outside, including the crown and stem, because they are subject to wear and tear. Especially if you have owned the watch for some time.

As Bo said, its only a little piece of metal that acts as a spring, maybe this has got damaged, anyway should not be a major problem. Your RSC will have it mended in a jiffy

I'm fairly sure they will cover you as I have a mate with the same problem a few months back on an LV and it was dirt in the inside bezel click grooves, the dirt was not allowing the spring to seat into the slots so it was riding over the top hence the clockwise movement. They were good enough to clean it out and fit a new spring anyway and returned it with a further 12 mos warranty all FOC...the LV was 22 months into the 2 years from new. The only downside was that the RSC too 6 weeks to do it as it was sent in via the AD.
This is the sort of thing they can sometimes do while you wait and coffee and go to Starbucks up the road! but you need to get your ass into Central London! |
