Help what to buy next?????????
Hello all, my name is Mohammad I'm from New Mexico and I'm a watch addict. Now that I got my intro for an intervention out of the way lol I'll give you a little background about myself. I'm 25 years old but basically going on 40 so age really doesn't count in my watch or life choices. I've been an avid watch enthusiast believe it or not since I was 11 years old. I currently own my own business so that also determines the watches I buy a little bit. But mostly everything was chosen by love of the watch and the history behind it. After flipping through so many watches I'm down to four that I love and I doubt I will ever sell unless God forbid circumstances require. They are an Omega Speedy 3570.50, a Rolex Daytona 116520 black dial, an Ap Royal oak jumbo 15202 white dial, and a Patek Phillipe Nautilus 5711 blue dial. So now my problem is what to buy next, I feel like I need some diversity but also something that I will always love like my current collection. I feel I'm lacking a dive watch and a GMT or dual Time watch. I've come to the realization that because I tend to flip a lot and with running your own business who knows when you need liquid my smartest bets will always be Rolex or Patek. But the good thing is I absolutely adore both brands so no problem there. Currently I'm debating either buying a Hulk or a Batman. My question is which watch do you think would be smart to buy first givin my current collection because knowing myself I will eventually by both. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger within the next couple months but I'm still open to any other suggestions.
All opinions appreciated, Thank You All |

Hey Mohammad,
I can only slightly relate to your collection as we have some crossover on the low end. However I do own a couple Submariners including the Hulk, which I can't say enough good things about. I was very close to going with the BLNR as well, and it's still on my future list. However given the caliber of your current collection I would consider stepping up to a precious metal sports watch. Possibly a 116718LN or 116619LB. I know they are way above the price range of the batman and hulk and therefore may be unreasonable, but that seems like the next step considering what you already have. If those are out of your budget I think you are on the right track with the BLNR or the LVC. |

Hello Mohammad, welcome aboard...Looking at your current collection; I would say, if colour inspires you, go Hulk. BLNR does have a sense of colour, but not as much as Hulk.
Good luck! |

Of course I love them both, it was not the driver of the decision but rather the logic for choosing the order of acquiring Other suggestions would be the 5164a for me... but surely you have considered that already |

BLNR and Hulk are two great choices. Nautilus has an aquatic theme so maybe the really useful timezones of the BLNR would be my choice. Don't know if you can wear gold but if so a gold Subc or GMTc would go so well with your 202 and 5711.

Thank you guys very much, I really appreciate all the input from everyone. I love that idea of the white gold sub Chadri but unfortunately I can't do gold. I'm starting to lean more towards getting a Hulk just because of the uniqueness very few can beat at under $10k. I did think about the 5164a but I think it's a little out of budget for now unless I hold off for a while and save for it. One of my concerns with a aquanat is it really a dive watch. I mean I'm not trying to be scuba Steve or anything, but I would like to fill that niche and at least be able to take a dip in the ocean with it if I'm ever on vacation or anything.

Great collection you have so far. I had the LVc and really liked it. I would also look at the new Sea-Dweller (SD 4000).

I'd go for the BLNR. I don't know what type of business you're in, but if you deal with clients or other businesses in other time zones the GMT will be useful. If you have family in other time zones it's very useful too, that's what I do to avoid calling in the middle of the night. Else, I'd suggest you look at a different brand because you have a great variety of brands why get two of the same one.

Well, I can't imagine a collection without a sub, so that's what I would get next. Metal and flavor up to you, but...I would go with the newer sunburst dial. Good luck and happy hunting!

Thanks for the replies, looks like I can't go wrong either way but just as I was pretty set on the Hulk I got some time today to try them both on and it made me more confused. They both are amazing watches and look great on me so it looks like I caught the bug on both. I did think about other brands because my variety of brands is well rounded but I just can't think of any watches that will fit the category I'm in while still having great resale value. The closest competitor was a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Deepstream dual Time. But I still didn't think it was much of a dive watch and if I decide to flip I think it will take too big of a hit.

Out of the hulk and blnr I personally would go with the blnr.

Tough call. I love both and either seems like a good fit in your collection. Go BLNR. Adds some color, second time zone and can still take it for a swim.

It's a very tough call. They are both awesome watches. The HULK edges it for me though. It was my first Rolex and definitely a keeper. Every collection should have a Rolex Submariner in it imo!

You're right. Can't go wrong w either but I'd vote for Hulk. I'm still mesmerized by the dial after 6 months of ownership and still counting...

I guess it depends on your budget, but between the LV and the BLNR I'd choose the latter.
Good luck! |

Hulk - slightly more casual. GMT - slightly smarter. Not a lot in it really. You could always get both.

Well sometimes in life you plan and things end up changing for better or worse. In this case it worked out for the better for me I found a really great deal on a all black ceramic GMT so I'm buying that and the Hulk in a couple months. I figure that way I'm getting the best of both worlds a time zone watch and sub diver. Saving the difference from the BLNR allows me to buy both in a short period so I couldn't be happier. I appreciate everyone's help in supporting me and pointing me in the right direction.
Thank you to all my watch Loving Brothers!!!!! |
